I have heard that the pH balance is critical, but I don't think it's all that reliable, and could possibly cause damage. (Pickled eggs?)

A new technique that increases the odds of successful sex selection was recently announced by a fertility clinic in Virginia. This process separates X and Y sperm so that sperm of one sex or the other can be used for artificial insemination. On average, it takes three trials of the technique to achieve successful conception -- at $2,500 per trial -- with a reported increase in the likelihood of conceiving a female from 50 percent to 90 percent, and a male from 50 percent to 70 percent.

Maybe you can't choose, but I have heard that THIS WORKS:

Male sperm swim faster, but die sooner
Female sperm swim slower, but live longer

To up your chances of having a boy, you need to have sex very very close to the point of ovulation.

To up your chances of having a girl, you need to have sex a few days before ovulation - that way, the female sperm will be the only ones around....

I have a few friends who swear by this technique. Your wife can estimate her cycle by going to www.mymonthlycycles.com

There are certain charlatans who will take your money to ensure the gender of your baby (even offer a money back guarantee), but beware. You do the math.

Yes - it's called adoption. Can't you just be happy with whatever you get? The only thing that should matter is if the baby is healthy. Would you love your kid less if it wasn't the right sex?
