I like this guy named Colin and he told my best fiend/his best friends that he likes me. I don't think he will ask me out though... it might ruin our friendship. Should I ask him out? & Do you think it's not right for girls to ask guys out?

As a man, most definitely YES. Sometimes asking a woman out is more frightening than being thrown in the lion pit covered in gravy. You like him, you ask him....and I hope you will be very happy together. Send me an invite to the wedding!!!

There is nothing wrong, with asking a boy out. Time have changed greatly, in the past it was un-lady like to make the first approach. so was showing off your elbows, ankles, knees and especially cleavage. and men going shirtless.

All that has changed, so has our culture.
It's OK for a girl to pick up the phone and call a guy, it's OK for a girl to drive to the guy's house to pick him for an outing.

Also the person asking, example to the movies pays, unless you make an agreement to go dutch.

It depends on what culture you grow up with. If you're an Asian, then most probably it's not appropriate to ask him out, coz Asian women are a little conservative and people will despise you for being aggressive. If you're a Westerner, go ahead! It's acceptable in your society to act something like that. Or if you really want him to ask you out, why don't you give him a hint. Say something like, "Tomorrow I'm free and I don't know what to do at home, I feel bored and I wanna go out, but my sister or friend is not available"... Then he will ask you out! Good luck!
