I am not sure what breed you have but at 10 months your dog is still very much a baby and she is just playing and being a dog.
Also she may not be getting enough exercise. Many dogs do not.
Depending on breed a walk once per day may not be enough. You may need to run her or something like that.
I have Weimaraners and a walk does not even raise their heart rates. I run the several times a day in the field. They keep fit and are not so bust in the house.
Give your dog some time to grow up. They are puppy's until about 2 then considered an adult. She hopefully will settle down some by then. Once again it all depends on the breed some breeds are hyper by nature and that is just that breed of dog.

Some dogs are just genetically unfocused and hyper active and your dog is still a pup. I have a Rat Terrier who seemed like she had a wasp nest in her head for the first year of her life, but with patience and training, she is now the most obedient dog I have ever owned and very eager to please.

So....you simply need to start a training regime. Buy a good book on dog training. (The Dog Whisperer) is good, but I'm sure there are others as well. You want want to focus on the good with rewards and use a stern voice to reprimand the bad
(Never hitting or slapping)

As far as teaching her to come when called, use a long length of cord as a leash....maybe 15 feet. Call her and gently pull her towards you if she does not come willingly. Offer her a reward when she comes to you. Don't make the training sessions epic.......just 10 minutes long and twice a day. And offer lotsa hugs and head rubs for a job well done. Dogs really respond to the tone of your voice.....so use a higher voice to tell her she is a good girl and lower your voice to let her know that you don't approve of her behavior.

Hopefully, with age...comes the calm. Good luck!

All dogs at this stage are hyperactive. My jack russell was hyperactive too until she passed away when she's 10 years old. Try sending you dog to Pet Training Schools. They do help especially in discipline. Good Luck!

my staffxbull mastiff was really hyper until we went to dog training. The trainer advised me to change lylas food from puppy food to plain dry complete biscuits such as asda's complete dog biscuits. She calmed down within the next few weeks. If I give her tins of dog meat she seems to go hyper again. Its something to do with the amount of protein apparantly. The dog training really helped too. I can now take her for walks knowing she will come back when I tell her to and Im not embarrased to take her anywhere now!

It is quite normal for dogs to be hyper at this age, they are adolescents and have lots of energy. Channel that energy by taking obedience or agility classes, and for at home start the Nothing In Life Is Free (NILIF) program.

Here's one site for the program, do a search and you'll find others
