I would like to install a new bathtub and matching one-piece wall system right over my old bathtub and wall. Before having BathFitter come the house, I would like to get an idea of how much it would be.
Thanks!

How does one install a new tub over an old? I'd think the old would have to come out? See if the company your talking about offers free estimates.

I wanted my 30 year old shower/tub redone. The total price quote was $3500.00.
My suggestion (and the route I went) was to go with a tub and tile refinisher. There are companies (usually either independant or locally owner) that will clean the tub and spray an epoxy (color of your choice) on it. White of course being the cheapest.
The company (one man) that I used did not remove or replace the hardware (your faucets, spigot, shower head, drain). I purchased new hardware and had a plumber install it. Some may do this as part of the job.
The tub is inspected for hairline cracks and then sealed. It's almost like auto body spraying. The shower is effectively out of commission for the time it's being prepped and sprayed. Then it takes about 24-48 hours to set.
This cost me (not including the additional cost for harware ($150.00) and the services of a plumber ($120.00) at total of $550.00.
Much cheaper than Bathfitters. This is definetly the route to go and the results are satisfactory in my opinion.
