Bicycles are subject to the same laws that govern motor vehicles in most states, hence cyclists must adhere to the same rules as motorists as much for their own safety as for the safety of others.

In California an adult bike rider must follow the same laws as a car/motorcycle. My friend got a $275 ticket for being on the sidewalk on his bike. It's a matter of safety. Do you really want someone going 30Mph on the sidewalk ?Common sense.

This is where the phrase " Share the road " came from. Since they are vehicles, they must use roads. In Pennsylvania you must be tolerant of bikes and even horse drawn buggies. Patience is a virtue, and everyone should learn it. Side"WALKS" are for people who are walking. So, share the road and develop some tolerance for others. It will only make you a better person.

Bicycles share the road because they are entitled to the same rights as motor vehicles, but they must also follow the same rules and regulations...
SideWALKs are for walking, not riding.

Bikes are considerd "vehicles" and it's actually against the law to operate a vehicle on the sidewalk.
Sidewalks are exactly that they're called "side walk" - as in walk along the side of the street...

Bikes move just as fast as cars in downtown cores so it makes sense to ride on the road. Cars slow us down more than we slow them down, in my opinion.
More importantly, it's illegal to ride on the sidewalk in many provinces and states.
