All of a sudden when I switched on firefox yesterday, it seemed different. All my bookmarks had disappeared and even my history vanished. This is the second time this has happened. What may be the reason and can it rectified?

It sounds like it created a new profile for you. All of your bookmarks are still there, there just stored in your original profile.

ya may be u have choosen the option to clear ur book mark if it's no so better u uninstall and restart ur system check for virus and againg install the firefox.best way check for virus,may be it caused damaged!
