Depends what you mean by 'take life for granted' - you'll have to clarify what sort of behaviour qualifies as taking life for granted, in your judgment, and what does not.

Yes and perhaps, I had serious kidney infection when I was 6 and I was completely unconscious for weeks and so I probably wasn't too into the 'I almost died...I should be grateful" thing. But we shouldn't take things like that for granted. It's just not right.
