I am a working mother and have 3 childrens. I also had two cesearians. I have absolutely no time to spare for excercise or gym, so I need suggestions to loose weight through diet. I am currently following a remedy which helps reduce weight. It is basically a glass of luke warm water first thing in morning with a whole lemon squeezed in it. Is it possible to know whether this remedy works? if so, how long would I need to carry on with this remedy in order to achieve the desired weight. Please guide!

You need a long term diet change and not a gimmick diet. Try taking your children for walks in the evening. Go to a track at a local high school. Let them walk with you or play in the grassy area in the middle of the track. You can watch them while you walk.

Incorporate more fruits and vegetables into your diet along with lean meats. Eat complex carbs such as whole wheat pasta or bread, not white bread, potatoes, or regular pasta. Drink diet soft drinks (no regular soda) and lots of water. Also incorporate strength training. Do some pushups from your knees every morning or use a diaper bag to do curls.

You need to do 30 minutes of exercise 3-4 days a week. Wake up 10 minutes early and walk in place. Eat a lighter and faster lunch and walk 10 minutes at work. Find 10 minutes in the evening to walk or even play outside with your kids.

Hope these tips help.

As a working mother it is hard to find time for much 'me time'. The best thing to remember is eat healthy. As stated earlier, lean meats, fruits, and vegetables. A good rule of thumb is to try and reduce your calorie intake by 150-300 calories a day and 1500-2000 calories a week. With the addition of jogging or aerobics you should be able to lose 1-3 lbs a week (any more and you might be burning off muscle). While at work, take the stairs instead of the elevator. Get a water bottle and fill it with water, drink it and every time it's empty take the long way to the water fountain and fill it back up. Drinking lots of water is very important not only in weight loss but in general. Also take your vitamins! A multivitamin such as centrum is very convenient and in time will boost your metabolism. A great suggestion listed earlier was to walk at a local highschool and let your children play in the grassy area while you use the track, definately a great way to keep you and your kids in shape. Maybe they'll join you on the track and become little track stars? Good luck!

OK been there done that. Warm water makes you have a bowel movement and lemon is suppose to help in weight lose don't we wish it were so. Your lifestyle and the way you eat is your problem most likely. After 3 c-sections and having to face a size 20 I had enough. I went to a dietitian mainly because fad diets come and go and gosh knows I tried a lot. Anyhow I found out what and when to eat all for like $50 visit. Then I started walking 30 minutes 4 times a week. Kids couldn't be the excuse because they can walk ride bike or ride in the stroller. Biggest thing was a buddy to motivate me. I got down to 130 pound but found 140 was as stable as I got and my doc says it is great for my age and 5'4". I would talk to my doctor your lemon water is not going to work your life has to change think of the benefit to your kids living in a healthy life style.

There are no quick fixes. Most people work and have children. Find 20 mins either in the morning or after they go to bed to do some moderate to vigorous aerobics. I don't know what your diet is like but all I can say is to avoid white bread and refined sugar. Stick to whole grain bread and whole wheat pasta. Drink lots of water and over the course of the day, try to eat smaller meals and snacks.

It is mostly NOT your fault, if you need to lose weight. The way you have been taught to eat is responsible for making obesity the number one health problem in the world (according to Atlantic Monthly magazine) replacing hunger and infectious disease. You need to re-learn how to eat so you can become thin. Not a diet, but diet lifestyle.

I don't think there is a magic formula for weight loss, other than a proper diet, some exercise, 8-9 hours of sleep, etc.
You can take your children for a walk around the neighborhood. If you get tired of the main streets walk thru the alleys. That's what we used to do so the usual walk didn't get boring.
Have healthy snacks in the fridge so you aren't tempted to eat packaged cookies, etc.
Drink lots of water.

Daily to practice to go to speedy walking in the early morning and take honey in luke warm water. Daily in the dinner take light food, i.e. tiffin. Don't take any Butter products. This item will increase your body fat and simeltaneously increase weight.

You will have to make time to exercise. Otherwise you will not lose weight. Walking is a good exercise, make time to walk 1 hour every day, briskly. Then no fast foods, no processed foods, only whole, fresh vegetables, grains and fruits. No meat, only fish. It is not easy to lose weight and get in shape, there are no shortcuts.

Sounds like your weight isn't an issue...I mean...I would guess you don't have washboard abs or anything but jeesh....don't be so hard on yourself. If you want to lose a couple of pounds...take the kids for an extra walk...skip sodas and sweets for a while...your fine.

The following healthy living recommendations will help you if you’re trying to lose weight, tone up your muscles, have aspirations of building lean muscle mass, are attempting to get a wash board stomach, or just want to feel better:

*1) Burn more calories then you're consuming everyday and measure your results using the following formula: Calories Consumed minus Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) minus Physical Activity minus the Thermic Effect of Food (TEF). A website that explains this formula in more detail and will help you determine how many calories you need to reach or maintain a certain weight is at http://www.primusweb.com/fitnesspartner/library/weight/calsburned.htm

Get a diet and fitness calculator that you can put on your computer or cell phone. This will allow you to easily calculate the above formula, set goals, log your daily calorie consumption, and register your physical activities.

Set realistic goals for your ideal body weight. Here are two websites that will calculate a suggested body weight:
Adults: http://www.halls.md/ideal-weight/body.htm
Teens/Children: http://www.kidshealth.org/kid/exercise/weight/bmi.html

It is difficult and unhealthy to lose more than one or two pounds per week. There are 3,500 calories in a pound. If you eat 500 fewer calories per day for a week you will lose one pound. If you burn through exercise 500 more calories per day for a week you will lose one pound.

*2) Eat natural and organic foods found on earth versus something created by a corporation to make money. Eat meals in small portions throughout the day and take a good multi-vitamin supplement.

Avoid “High Glycemic Load Carbs” (sugar, pastries, desserts, refined starches such as breads, pasta, refined grains like white rice; high starch vegetables such as potatoes) and drink lots of water. Read this article for more information on high GL Carbs:
http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsource/carbohydrates.html

Do not try fad diets or diet pills. Here is an excellent food pyramid that anyone can follow: http://www.rayandterry.com/html/images/PyramidLRG.gif?osCsid=26a424be471d1337e7c2f105d5c64d9d

*3) Exercise on most days by doing cardiovascular training and/or resistance training activities.

Read a book or find a certified trainer to make sure your doing all resistance training exercises correctly. A great book to buy that teaches you the resistance training basics is “Weight Training for Dummies”. A superb magazine to buy with resistance training routines that will not get you bored is "Muscle and Fitness". Signup for the free newsletter. An excellent free online resource is at http://www.exrx.net/

A good book to buy that teaches you the cardiovascular training basics is “Fitness for Dummies”.

*4) Get plenty of sleep. Sleep experts say most adults need between seven and nine hours of sleep each night for optimum performance, health, and safety.

*5) Educate yourself continually on health issues and make a life long commitment to good health. A great free publication is “Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2005”. A superb book to read is “You The Owner’s Manual”. An excellent periodic publication is the “Nutrition Action Health Letter”.
