Both sentences are correct. The difference is that #2 would be used if you are abroad at the time you are speaking, i.e., you traveled abroad three times before the current time you are abroad. Also, both spellings of traveled/travelled are acceptable.

Both are correct (if you spell TRAVELLED, with double L), as the context is different: one - you have been abroad 3 times already, and two - you are there the forth time, saying you have been there (abroad) three times before that!
