Does this sound familiar? IITimothy 1thru7 Know this also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, dispisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God, having a form of godliness, bud denying the power there of, from such turn away, ever learning and never able to come to the knowledge of truth.... kind of hits home huh....the Bible also says that professing themselves to be wise they become fools.......
If the non believers knew the 100% accuracy of phrophecy that has already been filled they might think a little more on why we believe the way we do. There were over 300 Phrophicies about Christ in the old testament, just to list a few, where he would be born, what he would do and how he would die.

Because it is insulting when someone pushes there religious beliefs on others. The inference is that your belief system is somehow better or more important that mine. It is about the total lack of credibility and sense that is spewed out by countless "Christians" I single out Christians but it could just as easily be any group that uses evangelical methods to push their particular belief base. It is the skewed and obtuse maintenance of ideas in the face of all evidence to the contrary. Evolution is a perfect example. Also, the rise in ultra-conservative views across America, and the average level of intelligence of the followers is minimal. That's what makes us angry...OK?

I can sometimes quite understand why more & more people are turning athiest, the centuries of war & persicution in the name of religion that has destroyed millions of peoples lives & brought nations to their knees. What faith can people hold in religion when it really isnt for the masses, modern religion needs a membership card & a big fat wallet. Take yugoslavia, one of the most beautiful countries in Europe, ruined, burnt , ethnicly cleansed in the name of religion, hundreds of thousands of men, women & children burnt alive or exucuted & this is just one example. No wonder athiests get angry when people are trying to recruit them to this, lets face it, who would want to be part of this.

Sorry to contradict you, but I see many many serene atheists on answers.yahoo.com...
That's why I enjoy asking/replying in "religion & spirituality" category.
---
But there are also "anti-believers". I don't think they really are atheists but people who have to heal some kind of deep frustration.
I consider that real atheists don't feel frustrated and that they feel balanced inside.

sorry you feel that it is all of us but I am hardly ever angry or ticked off about much of anything except for when someone says something stupid like a sterotype or generalization of things that they really don't know anything about, or if someone reminds me of the current idiot that we have in office, otherwise I am usually pretty good natured and easy going oh and JT an atheist is one who does not believe in god or the devil or heaven or hell

I suspect the arrogance, ignorance and utter stupidity of questions from believers might be a factor.
