I am away from home in a different city and bored, I want to see Superman but havent got anyone to watch it with, could I ask a random girl to watch it with me, like someone in a coffee house or in a shop, what do you think? Theyd be so shocked they might say yes?

Go for it. But do not just drop the bomb of going to see superman at the start of the conversation.
Find a girl you lie the look of who is sitting down in a park, a bench or in a coffee shop. Ask her if you can join her. If yes then throw in a bit of chitter chatter and a few jokes, if its looking good ask her. Pick a large, busy cinema at an early-ish time as you do not want to look like a rapist/serial killer. This is a really easy task and you should be able to complete it if you have the confidence in yourself. who knows it could be a great date.
Otherwise go see it on your own, no shame in that, i have done it many times when bored and all my friends were busy.
Oh and by the way, you should pay for the girl but do not throw that up right away as it looks desperate.

Omg! This actually happened to me once. I was at The Coffee Scoop with a friend...or local coffee shop...and this random guy sat at our table in the middle of our converstation and just said hi. I'm pretty sure he was visiting his family and just wanted someone around his age to talk to. So we all had coffee together and he asked me to go out with him some time that week. I think we met up for coffee again because nothing good was showing at the movies. He was hot. Lolz. I think a girl might say yes if you didn't just walk up and ask her out. Start a converstation with the girl first and casually drop into the converstaion that you would like to see superman but have no one to go with if she is interested she will offer to come with you.

It depends if your cute, what your mood was when you asked. I wouldn't care about the mood because i had the same problem with the same movie. Go for it.

You'll never know until you ask...you have nothing to lose...'cause if they turn you down...you'll never see them again. Let them know it is just to see a movie...and it will make them feel more comfortable about it...or they could just meet you there...and that will keep it a safe option for them.
