where to stay in siem reap, cambodia?

by the airport, river or city? which area is most comfortable and closest to tourists?

I am AMERICAN living in THAILAND and have many friends(cambodian ladies) in phanom phen....which would be very helpful in your travels...they are nice girls and know alot about siem reap silk shops and ankgor wat....i can supply you with email and yahoo messengers names so you can chat and have good tour...they also are fluent in english....just let me know and i will email your the names. This is a good way to see this wonderful land and feel comfortable knowing a "local."

i might propose united statesa. close to downtown section. siem attain city is relatively small. i enjoyed staying there coz there have been some banks around, the industry is close by and that i enjoyed having a drink or 2 on the piano bar, crimson bar and a few others. they are very respectable and lifelike. additionally there have been some french cafes interior the vacinity. and secure too. additionally there have been some eating places with cultural shows - it became affordable and the buffet became good.

well since i have not been there its better to ask around before u go or bring important maps & when u reach there cmmunication is important.dun b shy ask around n u wont get lost :)
