Extended family wants us to celebrate. I am not sure or convinced -that there's any reason to do such a thing. i would rather opt for a get-together without any tag attached to it though, at an earlier or later date. how do i put this across to them w/o offending anyone.

If this year doesn't feel like the year to celebrate, why don't you celebrate on your 26th or 27th? Maybe, you and your husband want to break with tradition? I don't think there is anything wrong with that. Celebrate on your terms!!! The most important celebration should be between you and your husband. You need to reconnect and remember how you met and fell in love. Maybe, you guys need to get away from the downs. Take time for the two of you. Celebrate and create some more UPs. It is sometimes hard, when life seems to keep throwing you curve balls. Try to look for the blessings, how ever small they may be. Grab on to them and let them grow, and then you can heal from the pain inside of you. Let that smile come back on to your face. See if you and your love can find and create some new memories. Let you next 25 years grow like a beautiful flower.

Might as well go through the ritual of cutting cake (if) and other stuff.

To summarise, why ruffle feathers in this stage of your life. If not offense then disappointment is likely. I assume you have grandchildren / teenagers / bahus in your family who might just...

25th is the best and then the 50th follows so I guess it's only fair you do what you and your husband feel like doing. After all you celebrating something you both worked hard to get to!
