if your frm a church going family, can you make your own decision?
I dont think you can... If god says to love thy neighbour, then why do religous ppl fight over whos God is THE god? and that if you believe in Demi Gods then you must worship satan? It happened to my culture and now it is dead and alot of my ppl believe we are actually christian...we were converted like alot of other cultures

In fact we are the super being on earth, but we started abusing our powers, some of our ancestors wanted to correct the wrong doing people, then they create a honorary post said GOD and said GOD is watching you all, whatever you do all will be recorded and punished accordingly, so they believe that and since then believing there is a GOD..

I think if anything, we have been drummed that there is no God. I am a doctor and I know what the science textbook teaches. It makes blatant statements without susbtantiation. For example, life started in a primedial soup with the right conditions. Sounds logical except when you consider the probability of that happening, then I can tell you 10 out of 10 people will not be so sure that that is the right statement to make.

I have never seen any significant drumming of the concept of God anywhere. We live in a world where there is freedom of choice and if parents cannot control their children nowadays, do you think the church has any hope of drumming God in any effective way to people. If I don't want to hear, I am out of there man!

Not the case, in our classrooms. We have no choice but to study evolution and regurgitate it at tests and examination or else we fail. I call that drumming.

studies show that a high percentage (in the 90s) of kids from church going families turn from God in college. Sounds to me that you are more likely to turn from God if you go to church when you are younger. God is not just something that you believe in, it's an experience. I once believed that an iron was hot because my parents told me so. One day I had to get my favorite blanket from under it and experienced the very thing I only believed in before. I've done the same thing with God. I believe and experience God by reading His word, praying, and doing His will (when I have the guts to). It wasn't always like this. I, too, turned from God. But, thankfully, His word says that while I may let go of Him, He will never let go of me.

The answer lies in a very simple question. Why do we respect our parents? Or someone who always stood in ups and downs of our lives. One attribute of god always comes into picture when we talk about him. Existence. One perceives god without any shape or sense. This makes the difference. God is just someone whom we set as our role model. He is someone who is possessing all the qualities which our society declared good. He is a hero.
The answer for the question "why we fight in the name of god?" is gods in whatever religion are good. But the people who worship them are idiots and stupids. We are unable to derive good out of the doctrines made by our gods and blame them. Its all just our misinterpretation work. Nothing more than that.

I can't explain everything. But God has changed my life. I grew up in a Christian family, but I was still somehow lost inside. I felt like God wasn't there. I grew up pretending that nothing is wrong with my spiritual life but deep inside I was hungry. I knew Christ and I love Him, but I was still searching and seeking to know more about God. I was a Christian hungry for knowledge and evidence of God. But the time came that I realized through God's Word how limited my mind is and that I should "...trust the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding in all thy ways acknowledge Him and He will direct Thy path." Plenty of times I just kneeled down on my knees and told God how I don't understand why things happen but that I trust Him and surrender everything to His hands. I always remember that I would cry desperately for Him.
By trusting, He provided, He showed me that He is what He says He is.
Miracles started to happen.
Just like the other day, I was told that I will be taking a test on the next day. They did not tell me earlier that's why I sort of panic because I had a lot to review. I only had one and a half day to review. The test day came, and before I left home, I spent my time with God, I was feeling very uncomfortable and doubtful. I read a verse about Peter and how he should've kept his eyes on Christ while walking on water. Then I was so disturbed, I had few more minutes left before I would go, I felt like I should use those minutes to review my math. But I just sense the Holy Spirit, sort of telling me keep Your eyes on Christ. So I prayed instead. I went to school and the teacher said that I don't have to take the test anymore. It's not necessary. I was so relieved!
I was soon just praising God on my way home.

when Gods calls you to be saved, you then have a choice, you can go to the calling or refuse. God does not force anyone to Love or to believe in him. But we reep the benifits. God does say to Love your neighbor. but not everyone believes, that is why there is so much fighting over who is the True and living God!! But when he calls you. YOU KNOW!!

everyone has there own definition of God its not for you to say what people should believe if I want to believe in something I will and it will be my own choice just like the choice your culture made, or was that forced on you too?
