LCE (Load Carrying Equipment - This is the belt and suspenders)
Ammo pouches x 2 each carrying 3 x 30 round magazines and 4 grenades
2 canteens, filled
First Aid kit
Bayonet
Gas mask
Side arm (if required)
Ammo for side arm (if required)
Ruck sack containing:
MRE for 3 days
Water
Ammo
Chemical suit
Anything extra that the unit deems necessary
Total, this gear will add an additional 80 lbs to the soldier, not counting his/her weapon.

WuttWutt has the basic list for a soldier, the rest depends on where you are going and what you are doing. It changes from unit to unit and war to war.
