Arthritis (from Greek arthro-, joint + -itis, inflammation; plural: arthritides) is a group of conditions that affect the health of the bone joints in the body. One in three adult Americans suffers from some form of arthritis, and the disease affects about twice as many women as men.

Arthritic diseases include rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis, which are autoimmune diseases; septic arthritis, caused by joint infection; and the more common osteoarthritis, or degenerative joint disease. Arthritis can be caused from strains and injuries from repetitive motion, sports, overexertion and falls. Unlike the autoimmune diseases, osteoarthritis largely affects older people, and results from the degeneration of joint cartilage. Other forms are discussed in the link below.

Arthritic joints can be sensitive to weather changes. The increased sensitivity is thought to be caused by the affected joints developing extra nerve endings in an attempt to protect the joint from further damage.

Treatment options vary depending on the precise condition but include surgery, drug treatment, reduction of joint stress, physical and occupational therapy, and pain management. There also are numerous herbal remedies that purportedly treat arthritis, including Harpagophytum procumbens. For specifics, see the articles on the individual conditions listed in the link below

All the best!

Arthritis is Inflammation in the joint, it can be one of two, Rheumatoid or his less disabling sister Osteo. The first is a deforming painful disease that not only destroys bone and joint it also attacks mixed connective tissue such as tendons. It usually leaves its victims with mild to sever deformity, it has no regard for age and strikes younger people indiscriminately. Osteo is less toxic and more manageable, it usually comes on with older people that have given a joint wear and tear, or had a trauma to a joint that causes them pain as they age. In the weight bearing joints, hips and knees it can be particularly annoying if the individual is over weight and inactive. Joints need movement and the old adage use it or lose it applies so well. Pain can be controlled even reversed with diet and regular exercise. The recommended routine should be 45min-60min and done three times a week. Swimming is another wonderful pain reliever and can hit a multitude of joints. Anti-inflammatory medicines are helpful as is aspirin, up to 15 a day unless you have GI problems or they cause your ears to ring, cut back. Be good to your joints when they are sore, ice or heat them give them some passive range of motion or rest. Avoid repetitive injury or additional trauma, pain tells us something is wrong, listen to your body and at least get one opinion from an Orthopedic Doctor to validate the type, severity and status of your problem.

There are three different types of arthritis that can occur in your knees. The most common type is osteoarthritis, a progressive disease that slowly wears away joint cartilage. This type of arthritis is most likely to strike after middle age.Rheumatoid arthritis is an inflammatory disease that can strike at any age. When arthritis develops following an injury to the knee, it is called post-traumatic arthritis. It can occur years after a torn meniscus, injury to ligament, or fracture of the knee. Some types of arthritis can cause fatigue.

Go to the doctor to make sure it's arthritis and not carpal tunnel syndrome or something (if you haven't already). As stupid as it sounds, I've heard there's an interesting and effective treatment for arthritis using beestings right where the arthritis is. It's weird, but said to work. One lady was attacked by a swarm and never felt the arthitis again. Check it out.
