I've owned this cat since it was born (Cupcake). At first she was living with my girlfriend and I at her mom's house. Well, I got kicked out and so did Cupcake. I can't bring her to my house because my mom is allergic to cats. I don't want to get rid of her. That's out of the question. My girlfriend tells me to just let her go. She's jealous because I give Cupcake more attention than her. Cuppy follows me everywhere and I always hear her crying for me at night, but I can't let her in. I want to move out to my own place, but that will take a while due to financial problems. What can I do with Cupcake until I do have enough to move out?

As a member of a nonprofit organization that shelters animals , I've seen many people run into this issue .

Here's a list of things you can do :
1) See if you have any friends you trust who are willing to help take care of your cat for a while . If so , then you should consider paying that person for Cupcake's food and litterbox and any other necessities .
2) Go to your local animal shelter and see if they can shelter your animal for awhile untill you're financially stable . Again , consider paying for food and any other things . I'm quite sure your animal shelter will be willing to if they have space . Just make sure your animal has all necessary shots and whatever medical needs , checkups , and conditions they need to know about .
3) If you can , as a last resort , try keeping the cat in a room where your mother doesn't go to . Perhaps you have a room in her house ? Can you keep the cat in that room ? Cat's are used to being contained in a certain room . Our animal shelter has a free-roaming cat room where our cats stay in that room only untill they are adopted and I'm pretty sure they enjoy it . Just be sure to vacuum on maybe a weekly basis and if you can , bath the cat once a month with a gently shampoo in order to eliminate pet dander/odors/etc..
4) If none of these options are applicable to yourself , then perhaps you can go to your local animal shelter and ask them for any ideas .

I hope this helped in anyway .
Good luck with your darling cat !

First I'd see if your mom is allergic to cupcake. People are not allergic to all animals, as it is the dander on the animal that causes the allergies, and not all animals have that. I am highly allergic, and yet I own three cats. See if there is a way you can keep Cupcake confined to your bedroom or a garage, where your mother does not interact with her. Exactly how long is it going to take you to work out your financial situation? Maybe you have friend or neighbor that can keep her for you while you get things straightened out. You could board her, but that is costly and wouldn't probably work for you. Other than that, try calling rescue groups in your area that foster animals, maybe a kind soul will lend you a helping hand.

The poor kitty! She's probably cold outside at night and wants to snuggle up with ya. Get a cathouse like a doghouse or something that keeps her warm at night. Or either get your mom a surgical mask if her allergies are through breathing cat furs. If she allergic in other ways, then I can't help you with that.

Best thing is to ask neighbours who also has cats and willing to care for her until you get back on your feet. Or put her up in a cat hotel if you can afford it. I know you're in financial problems now.

If that doesn't help then put her up for adoption. I know you love Cupcake but do what's best for her.

Can you find someone who would take her in temporarily until you find your own place? A friend or relative who, maybe, already has a cat or two and won't mind a short-term boarder?
Maybe she could stay in your bedroom if you keep the door closed and never let her out. Sometimes allergic reactions can be avoided as long as the person isn't in direct contact with the cat..

Talk to some of the local shelters or your vet and see if they know of anyone who will foster her until you get a place. My husband's friend was going to get "foster parents" for his 2 dogs while he went to Iraq for a year (really not that expensive...even for a whole year) until I told him that I would take care of them. I really applaud you for not turning her loose like your girlfriend suggested. There are way too many homeless pets out there anyway. The shelters should be more than willing to help you out with a temporary placement for her. Especially since that will be one less cat that will eventually be brought to them! There should be more people out there with your dedication to bring an animal into your family!

My pal who feeds many homeless cats daily makes use of canned foodstuff for the most area as cats do not obviously drink from water bowls. The extra dry foodstuff they have the added water their bodies choose and they could properly be ingesting from a contaminated water source. Dry foodstuff isn't a good foodstuff routine for any cat.

Replace Cupcake in a new home, if that is not possible put her to sleep.

Treat your girlfriend better or replace her as well. It is not a sign of a healthy relationship to give her less attention than the bloody cat.

NB: I am not in any way encouraging putting your spouse to sleep though! :-)

See if a family member or friend can take her until you can get your own place. If you can't, just don't let her come in. Otherwise, put her in the paper and find a nice home for her. It's hard to get rid of animals but sometimes that's just what has to happen.

Build a shelter for her out of bales of hay(very cheap most places) with old blankets or carpet for warmth.See she gets enough to eat and plenty of fresh water. Spend time with her outside as much as you can to reassure her you love her. Given these measures she will be OK outside til you can get $ for your own place. Good luck!
Sorry but you might rethink the GF-being jealous of a cat! Not too mature.

check with your local cat rescue (not the aspca or pound) many have people who will foster a cat for a brief period of time. its essential that you do this ASAP. you didn't specify if cupcake was used to being outside, but its very dangerous for a domestic cat, there are dogs, feral cats, racoons, coyotes, not to mention traffic and worst of all sadistic humans. if you can't find a rescue in the phone book try petsmart or geta free pet guide paper from a feed and seed store, or call some local vets they may be able to refer you................good luck!!!!!!
