if your credit card dispute is a collections case , meaning to say you are in bucket 2 or 3 and this card is linked to your saving account for payments, YES, the bank has the right to settle the outstanding payments from your bank account. if you had not provided a security chq at the time of taking the credit card , then perhaps in you agreement there would be a mention of settlement from the accounts you hold with the bank should there be a debt crisis. also , if this saving account is where your salary is being transferred every month , then its on that security basis that the bank has issued u a credit card.
banks provide every customer with a payment date and issue statements every month . you have to make sure your finances are well taken care off, or else , the bank has the legal right to settle the amts from your private assets.
pls contact the bank for further details and leagal settlements.

Understand that we're in the US and the standards may be different. However - and also let me apologize for my "brothers" who while being harsh are just (I'm still thinking of something nice to say...) well never mind
Unless your agreement with the bank says that they can do that then NO they can't do that. But you have to be careful and really look at the fine print that none of us reads:
it could be that all accounts are tied together. When I was young my bank wasn't sure about my car loan so the deal was that they MADE a credit card account for me and if I was ever late with a car payment they would take it out of my credit card. Well I ended up being screwed. But back to you... I would right now today if you can go to the bank and talk to the Manager, give him/her your story, and just remember if you tell your side with enough conviction and enough outrage without being mean directly to them, I can guarantee they'll back down a bit. What is the banking authority in India Like here we have the FDIC that we can report bad banking to, if you know who it is get all the contact information And do you have anything like a TV newsperson who looks after the little guy? In the US every city, every town, has a guy who's "ON OUR SIDE" to protect us fro stuff like this. When it happens we contact him, he embarrasses enough people and the matter is dropped. See if you have one of those! But otherwise
So tomorrow go to the bank, looking great I might add. Be so confident that you know NO ONE will be able to get the better of you, ask for the manager, if they screw you around ask for the teller with the most senority (now they'll be a little afraid of you, which is cool) Have a copy of proof that you're disputing, and you know what? if you don't have the proof that your disputing a specific purchase; Tell them you are disputing the whole bill, you're not quite sure if you EVER charged anything against this account and you're waiting until their financial guys get back to you, but in the meantime put the money back into my savings account and I would like for you to point out to me where you are authorized to pull money from one account to another?.
Either way, demand that you get the money put back into your savings, Also tell them that since you're in dispute with the bank, they can't charge you late fees, or over limit fees, SO DON'T EVEN TRY IT!! Good luck, the main thing is-if yoiu go in knowing you're right - you'll be recognized as being right!!!

yes it can. You have to learn to take responsibility for your own financial affairs. It is not for the bank to support your lifestyle.
They are a business; not your parents.
Banks do have the right to settle outstanding debts by transfering funds from other accounts. It is their money you are spending on credit and if you do not pay back by the agreed date then they may do what they want to get their money back. Which, when you think about it is fair... if you loaned money out and people expected to not pay you back, you would get a little irate I am sure.
You need to talk to the bank and come up with a plan of payment and a better idea of your responsibilities towards your own finance.

hey there. Nop, the bank can't withdraw money from your savings account. They could freeze it but not withdraw it. Contact them and get legal advise.
