My two cats are more members of my family than anyone else in my family. Except maybe Mrs Izziere. But cats and dogs are different.

To be posted VERY LOW on the refrigerator door - nose height.

Dear Dogs and Cats, The dishes with the paw print are yours and
contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food.
Please note, placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food
does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I
find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest.

The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack.
Beating me to the bottom is not the object. Tripping me doesn't help
because I fall faster than you can run.

I cannot buy anything bigger than a king sized bed. I am very sorry
about this. Do not think I will continue sleeping on the couch to
ensure your comfort. Dogs and cats can actually curl up in a ball
when they sleep. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each
other stretched out to the fullest extent possible. I also know that
sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out the other
end to maximize space is nothing but sarcasm.

For the last time, there is not a secret exit from the bathroom. If
by some miracle I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it
is not necessary to claw, whine, meow, try to turn the knob or get
your paw under the edge and try to pull the door open. I must exit
through the same door I entered. Also, I have been using the
bathroom for years -- canine or feline attendance is not mandatory.

The proper order is kiss me, then go smell the other dog or cat's butt. I
cannot stress this enough!

To pacify you, my dear pets, I have posted the following message on our
front door:

To All Non-Pet Owners Who Visit & Like to Complain About Our Pets

1. They live here. You don't.
2. If you don't want their hair on your clothes, stay off the furniture.
(That's why they call it "fur"niture.)
3. I like my pets a lot better than I like most people.
4. To you, it's an animal. To me, he/she is an adopted son/daughter who is
short, hairy, walks on all fours and doesn't speak clearly.

Remember: Dogs and cats are better than kids because they:

1. Eat less
2. Don't ask for money all the time
3. Are easier to train
4. Usually come when called
5. Never drive your car
6. Don't hang out with drug-using friends
7. Don't smoke or drink
8. Don't worry about having to buy the latest fashions
9. Don't wear your clothes
10. Don't need a gazillion dollars for college, and
11. If they get pregnant, you can sell their children.

Member of the family

Among companion animals, dogs are unmatched in their devotion, loyalty and friendship to humankind. Anyone who has ever loved a dog can attest to its hundred-fold return. The excitement your dog shows when you come home, the wagging tail at the sound of the leash being taken from its hook, the delight in the tossing of a tennis ball, and the head nestled in your lap-those are only some of the rewards of being a dog owner. Owning a dog is not just a privilege-it's a responsibility. These animals depend on us for, at minimum, food and shelter, and deserve much more. If you are considering taking a dog into your life, you need to think seriously about the commitment that dog ownership entails. If you already have a dog, you need to consider if you are fulfilling all your obligations as its owner.

A dog is a pet, a member of the family is someone who you are related to- unless of course your mum gave birth to your dog?

Doesn't mean that a pet is not important to the family, of course, but lets face it- none of us are related to our dogs.

Makes me sick when I see people treating dogs like humans- giving them human food, dressing them upn etc. There are so many dogs with psychological problems due to this- they are confused and are having an identity crisis- dogs need to know their place. They get depressed cos they don't understand when for instance they are allowed on the couch on day, and then shouted at the next.

People treat your dog well!

My doggy is my best friend in the world, he is as daft as a brush and twice as silly, i have a 13 year old son at a special needs boarding school and i love them both to bits, doggy is as much family as my, son, mum, dad etc, a dog should feel like a member of the family, that way they never feel threatened, hope this helps

My parents dog was considered as my brother, sad really but as I have moved away, my mum wanted to treat the dog as a family member.

I don't have a dog, but i had a cat who I had to have put to sleep two weeks ago. It was like losing a member of my family, it hurt so much and still does. I really miss her and still cry. I cried solid for 3 days after she went, I want my baby back!! I only had her for 4 years, but she was old when I got her, but she kept me company when my husband worked away, she would sit in the window and wait for me to come home from work, and as soon as she see me whe would run to the front door to greet me.

No, he's not a memeber of the family ... but he IS my family! Im a single woman and I cant have children, ever... he's my baby as well as my friend. And i and not ashamed to say it. i spent the extra money to get him a private trainer, consistant check ups, quality time... now i have the most wonderful well mannered dog i could possibly imagine. My immediate family is scattered all over the world, but he makes it so my life is not empty.

My 2 dogs are a big part of the family, love them to bits.
And they are much more loyal than some of my human family members! lol

I love my dog as much as I love any other member of my family. When my mum left, she was the only one i could talk to. I spend more time with my puppy than i do with anyone else. The reason a dog has more friends than a human is because they wag their tails instead of their tounges.
