I really do not see a problem with her eating the older cats food as long as she is healthy. Trying to get her to eat the kitten food will just burn a hole in your pocket. They eat what they want to eat

Older cat food is fine for her. She might like the taste of it better than the kitten food. If she seems to have problems digesting it, you might soften some with a little bit of warm water. Keep an eye on her to make sure that her bowels are working correctly as she switches full on to regular cat food, and if you notice any problems let your vet know. Other than that she should be fine. She just wants to be a big girl!

Maybe your kitten is going less on taste and more on example. She sees the older cats eating one kind of food and she wants to eat it too.
I've noticed that when my cat drinks water, even if there are no other cats around, she still keeps a watch out. It's a primitive protective instinct. Maybe your kitten just feels safer eating what the other cats eats.
I really believe in a body's ability to subconsciously pick what they need to eat. Maybe there is something in the adult food that her body instinctively thinks she needs.
At 21 weeks your kitten is pretty mature. If she appears healthy---playful, growing, active---then don't worry if she has started on adult food.

Cats are very picky I had a cat named Kitten and she would NEVER eat expensive cat food all she would eat was the cheap stuff...The point that I'm trying to make is that older cat food will be fine I never feed my cat kitten food and she lived for 17years so I wouldn't worry too much.

I understand, my kittens didnt eat kitten food either after the age of about 7 weeks. This probably means that the cats either doesnt like the kitten food taste or could be ALLERGIC to one of the many minerals that scientists and vets put in one of the brands. If your kitten prefers CAT food just give it to him, it probably means that he is to mature for the kitten chow, mayb soon after he is eating cat chow he will have kitten food just 4 variety!!!!!

Just let her eat the cat food, she'll get more nutrition form it then not eating the kitten food. Basically kitten food has more fat in it then older cat stuff, no big deal. I never give my kittens kitten food, and they are all fine.

lol-they always say cats are picky!!!

i have the same issue w/my baby-she is now 11 weeks old and has refused to touch her kitten chow since she was about 9 weeks-she only wants her sister's food ( i have a 3 year old tabby as well).

i called the vet b/c i was concerned about her not getting the nutrition she needs from the adult food and the vet said as long as she's healthy and gaining weight and growing-not to worry.

so i'd let your kitty eat what she wants-as long as she's healthy and happy, afterall that's what matters most!!

Haha, my cat did that. Spoiled baby! lol, but yah. I ended up just feeding her the adult cat food. No sense in trying to wait and instead making her starve because she doesnt eat kitten food. She'll be ok. She just wants to be like the big kids. Hehe.

She knows what she needs! Put out more of the food she does like to eat and forget the kitten food. She's all grown up!

My cousin is a vet and he told me not to MAKE ur pet eat what u want. Let it choose it's own food. It is very possible that ur kitten doesn't like the smell or taste of any kat food.
And as pets do, they think that other pet's or other peoples food is much better than they're own , ur kitten eats ur older Kat's food.
Why do u even try to force it eat what it doesn't like.
