I disowned my family because I got tired of them taking advantage of me. They're no good for me. My biological mom got almost all her kids taken away from her. She tried 2 kill us soon after birth. My foster family use my problems against me & throw them in my face, making me feel insecure of my own self. I have 2 families-foster & biological-& not one other member 2 turn 2 for support, but I'm always there 4 them when they're in need. I got sick & tired of it & started just staying 2 myself & let myself be my own family. Family is not all about blood. My best friend is the only one I consider family.

That is an odd word Dis Own ~ We don't own them to begin with. If you are angry at someone in the family distance yourself from them. If it as matter for the police definetly stay away from them. Just because someone is family doesn't mean that we have to tolerate bad behavior. Set some boundries and ignore them. Hi is fine, no other conversation is necessary. If you remain upset with them, then you are abusing yourself. Chances are they don't even remember the incident.

Outside of one of my six siblings (both my parents are now deceased) I have disowned my entire family.

Yes but it was mutual. It was my sister.
We've been apart for a very long time and I've extended the olive branch on several occasions but no response.
I miss her.
