It's rude to use all caps because it denotes a higher "volume" to your tone of voice. When it's unwarranted, it is rude. Consider it in real life: if you were having a conversation with someone and suddenly shouted at them, it would be rude of you, right? Also, using all caps does call some attention to the text, which is some people's justification for using it but with the noise of the Net, it tends to be obnoxious. Especially when there are easier ways to call attention to your text other than all caps.

All caps isn't actually as attention-getting as some people would think as in studies, it's actually easier to read a normally capitalized sentence than a sentence written in all caps. Mostly because the capitalization and punctuation in a normally written sentence are visual cues that allow us to read through it quickly. When the sentence is written in all caps, we lose the visual cue of knowing when a new sentence is beginning and it slows our reading down.

All Caps are used when you want to grab the attention or want to stress on a particular work or letter in its higher tone.. So generally people the small caps for a low tone and all caps for a high tone.. In some countries like philipines in they dont write in all caps they consider it to be informal.... but now u know its the net generation.... GOT IT? :D

it is rude to use all capital letters because it is an eyesore to read sentences that are written in capitals. to most people it is just as irritating as bright yellow text on a black background. it is frowned upon in the computer world. while we are on this topic saying words like are and to but using r and 2 , that is relaly annoying also. people need to stop that ****.

Because it would seem like yelling. Imagine if I go 'HOW ARE YOU?' as opposed to 'How are you?'. I figured the effect of a pleasant enquiry would become relatively loud. Literally. Lol.

It has become the symbol of shouting. It is interesting to see etiquette created for a new media.

All caps means you are yelling. Very computer savvy people get very offended if you use all caps.
