Like you said, he's only 18 months old. Give the little guy a break. At least he attempted, I think I wasn't even particularly interested in eating food. I prefered playing with them, like throwing it on my poor Mom's face. So don't worry. =)

I wouldn't worry. My son insists on feeding himself, but he still needs help from mommy. He can only use a fork, because that stabs things to pick them up. If he has to scoop anything, it'll fall off if I don't help. He's only 17 months, but he'll be 18 months soon. And he's very advanced in many things, so I'm not worried about a little thing like feeding himself. It will come in due time.

Yes. Some kids can take up to 2 1/2 - 3 years old to master using forks & spoons. Give him some plastic spoons to play with and some dishes (unbreakable). My son love to pretend that he is eating when he is playing with them.

thats no problem at all. my sister was the same way when she was little. many babies just have their own way of doing things. i did not speak until i was 3 years old not because i was stupid, but because i communicated in different ways. when i did start to speak, i spoke very well. babies just do things their own ways.
