What is really incredible is that there is only one answer so far that indicates that the answer is no or "HAs America picked the right side to be on?!?"

Someone mentioned before about hearing the the US had unoffically been made policeman of the world. Yes the US has been called that....BY ITSELF! or this is used as a deroggatory term by the rest of the world.
Why do Americans believe they are right all the time?! Do you not realise that you are NOT FREE! The USA is NOT the land of the free it is the land of anything but.
NAyone who disagrees with the USA or Israel is a terrorist. How about seeing it from the other side for a change.

More Later I'll think harder prhaps America should do the same.

U.S.A has tried to help but at the same time there being stabbed in the back. When they send in there troops, everyone is asking why are they there? But when the U.S.A does nothing then there asking why are they not sending us any humanitarian aid. They want Americans there only when it suits them and sometimes even when the Americans help they still get attacked {remember Sept 11} the Americans did not ask for that . Also watching CNN you see these people who were trying to get back to the States and mothers saying how they want to go back to the States with there children and when the time comes there children will go back there to fight the war. We don't want to raise your children on the tax dollars money for them to become our future terrorist.
If that's the thinking you will have then give up your American and Canadian passports up and stay there because over here we don't raise our children like that.

Under the rules of International Law, a state is not allowed to interfere with the affairs of other states except on some valid reasons like self-preservation, self defense or helping a government protect itself. The US only interferes due the reasons allowed by International Law. Thus, it can validly intervene in other peoples' war because it is a duty of a state to make other states peaceful and settle their disputes.

Do not interfere, it doesn't pay off and just create more problems to USA. Let the former colonial powers take care of what they once have created and pay the bills them self. The cowboy mentality can create more 9/11s and a war machine is not able to handle a single persons own initiative to take revenge. In their thinking, it doesn't matter who they hit, just that they did it.

No, unless it directly involves us. Like Afghanistan and Iraq do.

But what does interfer mean? Or rather, how far does it go? Should we not send Sec. Rice to the Middle East to try and broker some kind of peace? Or is that to much interference? Not being inflammatory, just curious if you also meant verbal diplomacy as opposed to military diplomacy.

depends on the war. I think alot of countries think of us as war mongers, which is not true, but we are usually the first ones asked to help in intervene in alot of situations. helping out has always been a strong US trait

Wasn't the United States unofficially designated as the "police of the world"? I know I heard that somewhere...in different words.

if they are a member nation of NATO then we have no choice but to help when we are asked, that is a major part of NATO. That was the reason we went to Vietnam when France figured out that they could not win, again, and asked us to bail them out of a mess. we were asked by Ho Chi Mien twice to help but we had just got out of WWII and then Korea, so we told Ho Chi Mien to wait, but before we could help him, a long time ally of the US, the French called and the rest is history.

Nope. But we are so intertwined now we are kinda stuck. Besides we are busy starting wars-so in that case ya I guess we would have to be involved.
