Of course it's normal!
What isn't normal is the inability to become emotionally attached.
Plus, you recognize it for what it is. One of the previous answers questions what your behavior would be like without it. Well, if this is your security pillow your behavior will reflect that, but to what degree it effects is what I would be be concerned with.
It would effect your sleep, but if it was missing would thoughts of it intrude your life to the point of interfering with your job or social life.
And what are the reasons this particular pillow has become so important, is something to ask yourself. Would you just be super bummed out for awhile or would you feel like you had to mourn it as if you had just lost a much loved pet.
The attachment is quite normal, and more prevalent then most people will admit. It the degree of the attachment that can be questioned. But why worry about it now.

It's rather ok, doesn't matter at what age, as long as you feel comfortable with it, but don't get too obessed with it though that you couldn't live without it. You are definitely not alone with security pillow, many out there have security blanket too. I think one major problem would be travelling, some people actually bring it along for overseas trip, but I would think it's a good chance to move out of the comfort zone for a while without it, at least for a couple of days or weeks.

I am 43 and I still sleep with stuffed animals!! I love my little security things cause I don't think I ever grew up, nor do I plan to. I like the cute and cuddly stuff and I like sleeping with my doggie. I know a lot of people sleep with critters or pillows. Why do you think they came up with the body pillow? For folks like you who don't want or don't have a stuffed animal big enough to make them sleep better. It is quite normal and don't be ashamed of it either. I'm proud of it and I tell anyone who asks I do it. Good question!!

Normal? No.
But it's not that weird either.
But look at all these people who have a security {object of some kind) too.

What is/isn't normal is how you do if you don't have the pillow.
If you have strong emotions (cry, fear or dread, anger, anxiety) or if you can't function without the pillow, that's abnormal.
But if you are OK, and just get a warm feeling from something familiar, then it's normal.
