Hey... I know what you mean. It's hard to see someone who you feel is hampering themself with their fashion choices, but you have to understand, that's just it. A choice, which you have, as a good friend, to respect. You also have to understand that for girls who have spent a long time growing their hair out (and all of the upkeep that requires, which is *considerable*, speaking as someone who's had hair that long), that hair has become more than just stuff attached to their head. Even contemplating cutting it leaves you with that sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach. Yes, hair grows back, but it certaintly doesn't do it overnight, and getting it there can be an ordeal.

My one suggestion if you truly feel she would look better with shorter hair, is to try some virtual makeover software. After scanning in a photo of her, try out some fun new hairstyles. Maybe she'll agree that a new style would suit her and take less time to take care of (without taking the drastic step of actually doing it), but I wouldn't hold your breath. Change like this usually only happens when she's ready, and when that day comes, look out. I remember when I was finally done with my long hair (for awhile anyway), and took a pair of scissors to it in my own bathroom, chopping off nearly a foot and a half of hair onto the floor (and it was still long...lol). But, even if she doesn't change it today, the offered alternatives of makeover software may stick in her head for later, and she'll thank you for supporting whatever her choice is now.

It is her hair after all... Hey how would you feel if someone tried to get you to try a kinky perm or suggested a butch cut for the summer....I'm just trying to make the point that most people don't want to be criticised and how you approach the subject makes a difference.
for a more serious answer I would suggest you talk her into wearing the hair up in french twists. buns and braids.
getting it up will
1. get her usted to having all the hair above the sholders.
2. expose to her how heavy her hair really is.
3. be more easy to manage.
once she has been wearing it up she will be more likely to come arround.
Sometimes when a woman keeps her hair so long it is a safety blanket or a crutch...so think about what it is that she could be hiding from. Don't confront directly but just talk and be open with her.
Focus on other things and let her have openings to discuss styles.
You need to be patient and bring it up and let it go as the situation warrents it..when the time feels right ...
You could mention that LOCKS OF LOVE an org that makes wigs for girls with cancer would LOVE her hair and that it would be an act of generosity to give it to a girl made bald by disease.
I know many friends who have done this and they all say they are glad thay did. It made letting go easier and afterward they felt freeier but even though people told them they would feel better they could not believe it till it happened.
Lof L wants the hair to be at least 8 inches

I hope this helps.http://www.locksoflove.org/

I believe mp. surely I even have hair previous my butt, the longest strand reaches my knees... yet my hair isn't that thick, so this is user-friendly to regulate. I had it curled for promenade with maximum up and a few putting, and yet it took an prolonged time, used multiple bobby pins and extra funds, it looked large. the hair stylist did a great activity. Is it a possibility to make your hair wavy a minimum of if no longer curly for the marriage? or possibly merely shop it down... yet definite, after the marriage i think of that if this is annoying to maintain it, merely cut back somewhat. Hair grows speedy... whether you chop back it short, on account which you're getting married, it will improve long returned and he would be there to work out that. (playstation ... paradoxically i found this on account that i exchange into additionally finding for a hair do on account that i'm taking a prof photograph yet do no longer prefer to circulate to a stylist)

well im on your friends side here. some people (as crazy as it may sound) areattached to their hair. I am PROUDLY one of those people. My hair isnt down to my butt anymore but when the lady at the salon cut it super short because she couldnt understand what i was asking for i started to cry and i felt like i couldnt breath! lol Now I mostly keep my hair to my waist although i recently got it to the middle of my back, BUT it really doesnt matter whats in style if someone is used to a certain way all of their lives. Maybe soon (like myself) she will get bold and try to go a little shorter but believe me she will want to take baby steps, not jump from booty length hair to shoulder length. maybe you can suggest for her to start out with some layers so she can change up a bit. i say just let her be herself and enjoy her hair if thats what she wants. why should she care what other people think if she is happy with it? and you may think it is out of style but most people think it is sexy and it is different, you wont see a 10 girls in the same room with her type of hair and thats the real beauty of it! i say rock on to your firend and continue to be herself!

It is her hair and she might like it. She will change it when she is ready. It takes a long time to grow hair that long out so maybe she has been growing it for a really long time. She could donate it to the cancer society for a wig for patients if she does choose to cut it. I do free hair cuts for people who donate their hair to wigs for the less fortunate in the hair loss challenge. See if maybe you could suggest that option.

It's only **out** if you're a fashion freak.
Hair says a lot about personality and if she feels good with it let her have it without being made feel out of date, jeez when did we come with codes for individuality?

I have super long hair, and it sure don't look flat when given a little effort to do something with it. I have a great advantage because I can do so much with it, and I dip dyed mine :D:D:D:D

super long hair can be a real downer for a guy, long hair gets in the way of all kinds of fun. Middle of the back at most. Take her to a salon that does that "hair donation thing" for kids that are going through chemo for cancer.

You could try going out to the salon with her and try getting a new hairstyle for the both of you. Have you told her that hair does grow back?

If you feel that you must, try to convince her to use one of the websites that lets you preview hairstyles...then she can see how hot she would be! I had very very long hair, believe me she knows what a pain it can be. But just like a bad boyfriend---if you aren't ready to let it go, it's not gonna happen.

I would let her hair alone, it sounds like you wish you can hair like hers. it's rare to see a woman with long hair long hair is never out. It sounds like it's cramming your style.
