This question has been asked many times, so I've formulated my standard answer. Here it is:
Picture quality of plasma is brighter, better color, better blacks than LCD. (There is something about looking directly at glowing phosphors!)
Sharpness is the same for equivalent pixel counts. Some newer LCDs have 1080 x 1920 resolution, most plasmas still in the 720 x 1280 range.
Plasma is heavier and uses more power than flat panel LCD.
There are reports that plasmas are not as reliable or they don't last as long, but that is no longer true with the latest models. Plasma phosphors dim slowly over time (but not as fast as CRT phosphors); but direct view LCDs use flourescent lamps which also dim and eventually burn out (some are replaceable). Projection LCD sets have bulbs of limited life, but are replaceable and the lifetime is a few thousand hours of viewing.
Plasmas are subject to burn-in. A stationary image left on the screen for a long time could produce a permanent ghost image. The most risk is when viewing a lot of 4:3 ratio pictures (non-HD), which are displayed with vertical dark areas on the left and right to fill in the wide screen. There are ways to minimize this, however. many sets have a "stretch" mode which widens the picture to fill the whole screen. This could also be a problem with extended playing of video games if there is a background image that remains stationary.
Plasmas come in largers sizes, although large flat panel LCDs are coming out, but they are expensive. LCD projectors can be 70".
LCD contrast and brightness can be reduced when viewing from off-center (both flat and projector, but sets will vary).

Plasma is supposed to have a better picture than LCD. LCD is supposed to outlast plasma (LCD TV will last longer than Plasma TV). If you want larger picture, go plasma. If you don't need anything bigger than say 36"-42", go LCD. Cost wise they are about the same, both cost more the larger the screen! I've decided on LCD because it will not have to be replaced as soon as a plasma would be, cost over time is less.

Sure LSD would be better, but then you would get a tolerance and have to take a break(maybe only 2 days-but still ), and then you would need a TV. But LCD is better, because it will last much longer, Plasma might have the better picture right now ( Don't know for sure, cuz I haven't checked the state of the art) But LCD can't burn in and will last longer, uses less power too- I think.

LCD Projection televisions offer larger screen sizes for a lower cost.
LCD flat panel televisions offer high resolutions, brighter, vidid picture quality for reasonable cost but have the added advantage of typically having HDMI inputs for High Definition television.
Plasma Televisions offer thinner deisplays than LCD Projection - and LARGER displays than LCD flat panel. THe only downside is their higher cost.
I would have to say that if you are a person willing to spend the extra money for wall mounting and cosmetic design, The PLAMSA Television is the way to go. This varies however depending on which model you chose. SONY has great WEGA Plasmas right now and a newer technology coming soon called EXTREME DEFINITION which offers the richest color quality for a very high price.
Seems that all the new Televisions both Plasma and LCD have problems reproducing deep Blacks and colors/flesh tones that don't seem washed out.

They are all well television's, it is your possess individual utilization so that they can dictate what is larger. Go to a retail retailer and demo the product and spend at much less quarter-hour each and every on each and every one and write the professional's and con's. Here's a couple of details, Pioneer Elite plasma is the fine TV available in the market, however the fee for a 50" is within the $five,000 variety. LCD and LED suffers from movement blurnes on rapid movement sporting activities, one hundred twenty HZ and 240 HZ does scale back the situation but in addition comes at a greater fee. LED fee is greater than the LCD. LCD and LED does devour much less power however now not seen if you do not watch television greater than five hours an afternoon. TV's displayed at retail retailer are adjusted to the max for larger image because of the volume of sunshine within the retailer. Go on-line to Home Theater Magazine and skim stories on Plasma, LCD and quickly LED. I personnal have two Plasma TV's in my house and no ***** in any respect. High definition or complete top def. 720P or 1080P, you will not be competent to inform the change on television monitor small than forty six" and the 1080P is at further fee. Blue Ray disc films are the one supply of 1080P available in the market now. If you watch alot of films (dvd or Blue ray) and watch sporting activities the Plasma television is larger, LCD is larger when you use it to play video games out of your laptop or video games console. Your possess eyes are the fine pass judgement on.

LCD is lighter; plasma has sharper color and focus resonance (but is HEAVIER). The debate rages on. My personal choice: plasma ( I love HD ).
