Yes, you can. There are a large number of recipes involving jelly fish in Asian cuisine; they are considered to have positive medicinal effects, and I think a number of other areas as well. The first rule of thumb is that if you are hungry enough you'll try anything. Some of it you might even like no matter how odd it seems. How else do you explain Birds Nest Soup, it isn't bad at all, which is really made from the nest of a certain type of Swallow.

Doubtful. Jelly fish are among the simpler forms of life and I think are like 90% water anyway.
