For sure. Getting a promise from an honest person is just as good as a contract. If I ask someone a question, and they say, '' I promise'' I expect they will do exactly as they say. If you break a promise to me, you lose all credibility

Depends - if I use the word, it means everything, and so I hardly use it. But if someone else uses it, it means absolutely nothing to me - I still consider it a 50/50 chance, and that's due me being let down by so many people in the past. One thing I don't like is when you say you will/might do something and someone automatically assumes it's a promise.

If you make a promise to someone, than you have to carry out the promise no matter what. People shouldn't go about making promises they might not be able to keep.

It means a lot to me, it is not a word that I say lightly, however if I do, I would crawl over hot coals to ensure I keep to my word. It is a word that should never be used unless it is meant from the bottom of your heart. Believe me though I am not naive enough to think all people say it with the passion that I do.

the word promise is like giving away your honor too.So when I say promise it really means to me because it means that you can be trusted, but dont promise when you cant do it just say yes or no. dont promise anything that you cant especially if it means to the other person whom you have promised to it will only hurt them when you dont.

Yes it does..to me it is like giving my word..I do feel strongly about that. I won't promise something i cannot do.. Not everyone cares whether people respect their word..But some do, i like to be taken at my word..
