At Earth's last birthday party there were too many candles to count but we all had a fantastic time. Mother Nature and Father Time really cut up the dance floor and then got it on in the back of Thor's chariot. Neptune got drunk and threw his trident at the moon and created another couple of craters. Sorry you missed it. It was the party of the millenium.

I don't think the Bible indicates how old the Earth is. Some believe God created the Earth from matter that was already in existence. Consider this: let's say you made a wall out of rocks that were 10,000 years old. A few years later a scientist comes across your wall and determines the material of the wall is about 10,000 years old. Does this mean your wall has existed for 10,000 years?
Were the six "days" of creation the equivalent of six 24-hour periods? Or were they more like six "periods" of creation, which had indeterminate lengths of time? For all we know, the Earth could have been formed, and "up and running" for millions of years before God decided to populate it with humans. The exact timetables have not been given to us. I do not know if God has revealed all the details.
God has been around for a very long time. Why would the fact that the Universe is millions of years old go against the notion that God is real? If you can't believe in something without seeing it, then you lack faith. Just because you can't see something, though, doesn't mean it isn't real. Do you believe quarks are real?

Don't go against facts and believe fairy tales. Stick to the facts exactly as they are recorded in the book called the Bible.
Earth came from the water by means of the water. Water is a results of love and God is love. God is always love because God can never change. Thus the earth is as old as God is. So now in your opinion how old is God?
Remember do not believe in fairy tales and only accept facts. God has no beginning and thus is infinite in age so how old is infinity?
Absolutely it is written that God [Elohim or elohim] created the earth but there are more than one definition for the word earth. First which one are you talking about? Second which one is the bible talking about when it uses the word earth in the recordings?
My Friend did you ever see the plural form for the word earth? Did you know in the English language the singular and the plural word for earth is the same.
Thus when you ask about the earth are you talking of the singular earth or the plural earth. Absolutely you may be talking about both or all the earth.
Just some food for thought I found in the book called the Bible. You should read it carefully so you will not have to believe in fairy tales.

Don't you believe in the Big Bang? Well then where did that star come from? It came from the same spot you did! Which means it traveled from here to there and I believe that would cut down on the necessary travel time!
In addition it has been shown that light has not traveled consistently through out time! (I personally don't believe that that is true!)
If you take the Bible Literally we are about 6,000 years old. I am leaning towards the 6,000 years at this point in my research but it may very well be millions of years old. There just isn't any facts to support that that I have found yet!
Speaking of stars why have we not seen any stars form? We see Nova's and Super Nova's but we do not see stars being born? I think that is odd! By the way the nova thing happens about every thirty years and the number of nova's out there fit into a young earth theory!

Your idea that light coming from the Andromeda nebula is great.
You run into a flaw though in that the universe is far bigger than 13.7 billion light years. If you are going to fault Christians for believing the universe is younger than you must also fault the scientists for believing the universe is much younger than its size indicates.
What about dark matter, gluons, dark energy, quarks, etc.? Science has a host of invisible forces that are unmeasurable but necessary. Without dark matter the big bang theory is void. Without quarks much of our understanding of matter is void. Much of science depends on invisible and unmeasurable particles and forces in order to be even partially logical.
If you believe science you are already believing in a host of fairy tales. I agree that scientific fairy tales are told by some of the most intelligent and educated men but they are still fairy tales.
An invisible God can still supply more answers than science can at this point.
While I don't believe that the Earth is 6000 years old, I don't begrudge those who do. Perhaps someday I might change my mind and believe as they do.

in accordance to the Bible the international is 5768 yrs and a couple of months. An explaination for the fossils and so on is they were contained in the international from creation. a similar way thtt G-d created grown up trees and a 40 yrs previous Adam, He created an earth that contained "fossils". yet another conceivable rationalization is that the 6 days of creation the position used beforehand the picture voltaic device replaced into operating and hence what's referred to as an afternoon may were a lot longer than what we call an afternoon those days.

I've been reading your barrage of arguments against creationism today and just can't help but wonder: what motivates you? Creationists see the handiwork of the Creator in every thing in the universe. They see what you see in microscopes and telescopes and praise God. What causes you to act this way? When I, as a creationist, speak of the beauty of the universe, I don't find myself trying to bang anyone over the head with my observations and interpretations. Where do all the histrionics come from? Are you threatened by the possibility that you are wrong to the degree that you feel you have to mount this much of an offensive against creationism? Did a creationist step on you one day, so you've devoted your life to getting all creationists back?
Some of your questions are lucid as the first section of this one. Some of your questions seem to presuppose things about all varieties of creationism that simply aren't true. Some connections you've made are, in reality, non-sequitur. I'm not so interested in why you believe what you believe, but I can't help but ask: Why are you using this forum this way today?

Back in around 1820 or 1840, some guy sat down and calculated out that via the Bible, the earth was only 3,000 years old. He's usually talked about when people study Darwin since they were both part of the 1800's Enlightenment era.

When it says God created the Heavens and the earth, the original Hebrew can be translated as RE created. Before mankind was created 6000 years ago the Earth may have existed for any number of years and was RE created when God made Adam.
The Earth may well be millions of years old, but as far as God, mankind and the Bible are concerned, only the 6,000 years counts.

Hi lol
who ever you are
what ever you rlgn is
You are a human being
If anybody studies most rlgn books with open mind
( I know how horrible to have an opend mind in such affair)
but it is necessary..
rlgn books talk in metonymy or hypallage
why is that ? bcz the persons from thousands of years couldn't
realize the abstracted stuff, nor imagine huge dimensions nor
dstgsh long time periods....etc
so we don't talk the subject literally ...
BUT as a creatures has to be free&rspnsbl we can use our
cmn sns to judge all causes,,,in the old testament there are
so many things which are not said by the GOD
you can count to many...but with an opnd mind that most causes
which is being focus on..in the bbl is not the word of God..
But only 4 or 5 causes:-
1_land of palastine is given to jews
2_other nations(all) are considered as slaves to israel..spcly :-
(sons & grnd sns of Ham i.e kanan...i.e palastinians&
egyptians.....which is not mentiond by the God)
3_most commands directed to jews aginst general evil...
had been yielded to a form that carries not more than
meaning of NOT to do that to an other jew
4_hate to descendants of Ishmael...
so manythings had been changed in the old tstmnt during
ages of torture that jews were exposed to....
but who can talk about that dfrmation...?
all know...but no one can talk...
instead of srching in this subject ....we usually see & hear that
Islam is not good..Allah is so&so ,Mohammed is so&so
muslims marry 4 women...muslims are terrorists..ets
as if there is someone(...) intrstd in directing all efforts agnst
Islam and Quran and Allah...
bcz of that the holybook (bbl) will be kept so far from ppl which
is not right....rlgn books are necessary for human...
we can purify them of bad things and discuss all matters frankly
and we can as human beings ,to hold our hands together
against diseas,poor,ignorance...
so use your mind and respect who gave you the mind to use it
God helps you
