A friend I know, her 4 yr old child keeps peeing in her underwear after she is asked to use the toliet before going for ride... why is she doing that? Help me out so I can help my friend out. Thanks.

Its not before her bedtime.... its when she goes with her mother riding. Read my question carefully next time.

Yes this is new cuz she was fully potty trained by age of 2 1/2 then it happens again about a month ago. It could be dairy allergics.

My son had this same problem. It seemed that he didn't know he had to go until he REALLY needed to go. I tried to remember to bring extra clothes along just in case and a few times, I had to buy him a new pair of shorts. I also let him pee in an empty water bottle, of course that only works for boys. Probably something about the vibrations of the car makes the girl realize that she needs to pee. Maybe your friend could drive around the block then stop back at home and have her daughter try to use the bathroom again.
There are a few other possiblities too. The girl may just be so excited about going somewhere that she doesn't want to waste the time using the bathroom.
Sometimes kids wet their pants because it is one of the few things that they can have control over. Maybe your friend is not giving her a transitional warning that they will be going somewhere and she is upset that whatever she was playing with is being interupted or she just doesn't want to go anywhere. Some kids are also actually afraid of car rides. A couple of my kids would beg me not to drive on the freeway.

Will she even *TRY* to go before she gets in the car? Maybe it's that she is asked to go BUT she doesn't even try before they leave? Have your friend WATCH her try. (When my daughter was 4 I'd send her to the bathroom before bed but she'd still pee during the night. Then I found out that she had been going in the bathroom and playing instead of using the toilet.)
Make sure that the child knows that, if she feels she has to pee, she should tell mom in the car. Make sure she understands that there is no potty in the car, so she can't wait unit the last minute when it is an emergency to tell her. Let her know that Mommy will stop if it is important.
Have your friend pack a bag of extra clothes in the car that the little girl doesn't know about for emergencies.

you didn't say if it was a long ride or a short one, but anyways here is a tip that might help. have the mother take the child to the bathroom and ask her to try and go potty before they go, maybe sit with her for a few minutes to she if she will go. if she does give her praise. if this works then tell her how proud you are; or the mother is, of her. The child may be getting either very excited about the trip or very nervous. good luck

is this something new? how long has she been potty trained? is she fully potty trained? has your friend tried sitting her on the potty before leaving? my daughter isn't fully potty trained s when we go anywhere in the car, i unfold a diaper and put it under her in case of an accident. does the little girl give a reason why she is doing this? good luck.

a lot of kids slip backwards for a little bit, this may be the case or she may have a urinary tract infection. tell the mum to take her to the doctor to make sure it isn't
the mum asks her to go but does she? get your friend to make her sit on the toilet for 2 minutes before they leave. Maybe the girl isn't actually going to the toilet before.

Don't ask her if she has to go just make her go anyway. Four year olds live in the moment. They don't realize that in 10 minutes they will not be able to go to the bathroom.

She probably does not feel like she needs to go until her bladder is full and then it is too late.
