why do people get married and have kids at the at such a young age?

I think some of them think this will make them adults. I don't think they always look at the bigger picture, & see the responsibility involved with being a spouse or parent. A few make it work, but most don't because they dont realize being married is a lot of work, & raising children is even more work than that. It isn't like playing house with dolls, & most people that young aren't ready for that stress. In fact, I'm 32, & I'm still not ready for that level of stress yet! I hope more kids will wait before taking steps like these, especially since so many of them depend on the tax dollars of people like me to try to save them from their own mistakes.

a lot of people believe or actually have found their 'true love' at that young age. of course, in some countries that is the normal age to get married and have children. a lot of teenagers also make the mistake of having sex and getting pregnant and decide to get married because of that.

Now a days women of society are starting to wait longer to have their families. However, my mothers generation; I being 18yrs. old for baby #1, I was considered older...lol. We were all bread little Mrs. Betty Crocker, our jobs were simple to become domectic goddesses'. My mother was 14 when she got pregnant with me, and she went on to pro-create a bundle of children in poverty.

Society learned that raising children in poverty wasn't exactly all the best thing to do, and the new found birth control from the babybooming 60's quickly began to rise!

Women were getting Smart! We decided we wanted top paying careers first. We deciding a google of children at 30 was retarded! History certainly taught us that these MEN didn't stick around to help raise his bundle of welfare brats.

However, there are some very young dumb girls out there, calling it Gods will, maybe it is, who am i to judge, I was a young mom. But calling it a blessing to have 5 children before the age of 25 or what have you. I do know that this is not the norm, this is simply some ill educated percentage of society as a whole.

Statistically woman are waiting to have children until after they have their ducks all in a row.

With fertility treatments today, the advancements in reproductive technology, and growing desire for people wanting to wait, this has become a very lucritive practice.

I personally was brainwashed into believing it was my soul purpose in life, get married, have kids, listen to my husband, cook meals, wash clothes, ect.. I was 20 yrs old and divorced when I realized I had been suckered into a lifestyle my parents had chose for me, not one I had choosen for myself.

I then decided to get my tubes tied, who was I to afford society with the burden of more welfare babies (as yes indeed, I was on welfare). I worked very hard to not only go off, and stay off welfare, I also put myself through college. I of course remarried :) and now at age 34, I have decided to have another baby. This will be my husbands 1st natural born child.

We broke free from our cultural upbringing, but many never will. These however do not reflect the norm. Many many women are waiting until their early 30's and some 40's to start having children. Although we do know that our life expectancy is longer now adays due to advancements in medicine, we at this age understand the meaning "biological clock ticking" That is simply our bodies telling us to have a baby. Most women don't hear their clock until they reach my age bracket. That aught to tell us something ;)

well usually it probably wasnt plan but even then so most people want children at a young age to enjoy them so when they are 20 mom and dad are still young enough to enjoy life and be there for thier grand children i myself started over at 41 lol

um...i don't know anyone that is married and 15, 16, or 17 years old, so I don't know.
But there are plenty of girls that i know that have had kids under the age of 16. and i don't know why.

i don't know it's either because they want to get away from parents or they got pregnet so decided to get married and a bunch of other reasons and problems that forxces them to do so

well let's see...many reasons i suppose. everyone's situation is different. maybe the girl got pregnant and families pressured them to get married..maybe they were high school sweetheats..who knows? what ever the reason ..it's their life..everyone has choices to make ..why do you care?
