Yep! She has more clothes than I do. I only plan on having my one daughter, and I do go overboard with her sometimes. I'm with you, I can't help it. I grew up dirt poor in the Appalachian Mountain region of East Tennessee, and I never had anything nice. Now that I'm married and we've moved on up like the "Jeffersons," I guess I just want my daughter to have a good life, and to never be without. LOL, and for every outfit, are matching bows for her two afro puffs!

ok, you need to maybe try something else. maybe instead of buying your kid these clothes, spend non-shopping time with your child. There is nothing wrong with enjoying buying clothes unless you are going broke. (but you said you weren't) but you have a concern about it or you wouldn't have asked. you also didn't say how often you spend 200 (a month, week, day). you should start putting that money into your payments for your bills if you have any. This will pay them down alot faster. you won't have a much money to spend on clothes for the kid, but you will do your whole family better overall. What are you going to do with all of these clothes when your child grows out of them. Give them to Goodwill? Where is all of that money going eventually?

Shopping itself can be an addiction, you just have one thing you buy. It is your decision, but you are not crazy. At least you are taking care of your child.

I am too - however, I have 4 children and realized a long time ago, that I can go to thrift stores or garage sales and get the same amount of clothing for a fraction of the cost. I love buying clothes for my kids (especially my girls) - they don't know the difference and I only buy the best. I am addicted to Tommy Hilfiger clothing and the only way I can afford to put all 4 of them in it is to by used or clearance.

You go girl.... If you have the means to do it - you do it.

Stop buying all those clothes! Your kid has plenty of years to look cute in clothes. Yes, everyone indulges their first born, but $200 a month? Dude!

Give some of that money to charity if you don't already. You'll feel better about it. You can give in your kid's name.

Save some money and send your kid to private elementary school, if you aren't already saving.

Save some money and send your kid to an ivy league college, if you aren't saving already.

If you're spending that much money on clothes and aren't saving for your kids future, then shame on you. If you're able to afford both the school and clothes, then I have two kids you can send your left-overs to. Can they call you aunt Yahoo?

i have a six month old and i can't quite justify it as he outgrows stuff after wearing it once.

i don't know how old your child is, but if you are covered on savings and college and are not going broke, its your choice.

200 a month is a lot of money. there are LOADS of other things you could do with it. try budgeting for clothes. if you set aside a more reasonable amount and say "when its gone i'm done for the month" and try and discipline yourself, you might feel better about your spending.

congrats on your child. no matter the age, they are such a blessing.

If I had $2 hundred to spend on clothing..i could bypass to a 2d hand clothing shop, spend approximately 50 and shop something..you will get some incredibly super clothing and perchance purchase some new boots.

I did that too. Now I am more into Kohl's and JCP clothes for her. First of all, she is VERY messy, second there are nice inexpensive clothes and last she doesn't wear them very long til she grows out of them or they wear out. Even now, when my intent is to shop for myself I come home with more clothes for her and maybe one or two pieces for myself. Her stuff is much cuter and fun to buy. You will get over it. But then again, if you're not going broke I guess there's no need to get other it. Have fun shopping!

i tink i spend more on my first kid rather than my second. everytime will be back home with both hands full of shopping bags. well, maybe because its ur first time having a baby so u tend to be over excited. i tink no biggies since u said u not gng broke and have saved for education. enjoy shopping!

not really, I have twins whom I like to dress alike for now, I go to family dollar and buy pre-season a size bigger than they wear for the next year, I get whole outfits that are super adorable for $2 and $3 trust me, buying them clothes is fun, but, what a waste, save that money for them for college or open them a savings account.

I too went a little bit overboard when I had my first child. They grow out of things so fast, so stop wasting your money on everyday clothes and save the splurging for special occasion outfits.
