I heard that this girl likes me and i asked her. She kept a straight face but when she wasn't around i was told she was mucking around. Anyway the next day i get told by her cousin and sister that she does like me. What should i do and does she really like me?

Sometimes the direct approach is best, just ask. But if that seems too bold for your liking, look for the following signs. Pay attention to your conversations with the person in question.
1) Does this person show a special interest in having a conversation with you and, once started, make an effort to keep that conversation going?
2) Has this person taken a sudden interest in your life and hobbies? This is a sure sign that he or she is interested in something.
3) Other elements of body language include frequent eye contact, holding your gaze and looking down before looking away.
4) Does the person you're wondering about just plain smile at you a lot?

You need to work on your socializing skills matty if you still don't know after talking to her face to face.
You say that you were told that she was just "mucking" around. Not sure what this means, but I would definitely say that you need to just ask her again. If she likes you then she is going to want to be with you and she is going to respond to you if you look her straigt in the eye and ask her out.
Now.... Don't just go up and be like "Hey, wanna go out sometime?" This is not good. Women like specifics. It should sound more like this: "Hey, I was wondering if you would like to go with me to see a movie on Friday night." Then if she says yes you should have details arranged such as 1.What times your activity is going to start and stop 2.Transportation issues(Are you going to pick her up or are you going to each drive there etc.) 3. Her phone number.
That is about all you need to know.
Oh, and I forgot one other thing: money. As the man, you should always be prepared to pay for the whole night. Some people will think this idea is stupid, but if you decide to go dutch(Where you pay for your stuff and she pays for hers), then the only thing that can go wrong is that you have extra cash on hand. If you plan on her paying for her half of the expenses it can get ugly.(Especially if you go to a restaurant and you don't have enough money to pay for both meals and she has no money on her.)
But, what I'm really trying to say is: GO UP TO HER AND ASK HER OUT!
