This jock has also been reprimanded for overuse of his whip. It's time to see this guy in a new profession. His license should be revoked.

I think the Media & the Public has done enough to him already. I saw this on the 6:00am news & from what I could see, he didn't do anything wrong. He had a point to make with the horse & from what I saw it looked like he made his point. You have to do strange things to get your point across to most thorobreds & a rider that goes to the "extreme" is always looked down upon if they go to "extreme" in the public eye. What he did is an hourly occurence on the backside of a racetrack & no one ever says anything about it. A horse weighs 800-1200 lbs compared to a 120 lb human. If they fine the Jockey, it will be for EXPOSURE, rather than a act of cruelty, but with the rule of reciprocity. anything is possible! This guy really pis*ed off the wrong person on the backside & I can tell you from personal experience that his life is going to get more difficult as each day passes by & his mounts are most likely going to be from lower class barns. I wish him luck, because he'll need it. He is officially on the top of the blacklist & it'll take him 3-5 years to recoup his losses & prove himself enough to get back into the regular daily circle of the vicious cycle of the backside!

listen I was talking to a friend of a friend who was in the parade ring before the race and he said that the abuse that the poor jockey had to put up with regarding his Irish connection was above and beyond the limits any jockey should have to put up with. it has been suggested that the nag made racist comments regarding Paul's parents and siblings. when Paul was unseated by the nag he did what any self respecting Irishman would do in the circumstances.
There was not such a public outcry when an English actor decked a horse in the film Blazing Saddles. and what about the Iraq.
Paul was letting the nag know who was the boss. in its own language. now leave him alone

If it were my horse he wouldn't ride it again. I don't think it's worth the uproar...but also don't think it was the best judgement. Yes sometimes it's necessary to give a swat to get their attention...but at the time that he did it the horse was standing still...he didn't get after the horse when acting up but after it stood. That indicates more 'revenge' because the horse unseated him. Saw it on the news here and it seemed a poor judgement action. Report was he faced disciplinary action not for that but for excessive use of the whip on the horse in the race. Like I said if it were my horse he wouldn't sit on him again. There is no call for showing temper to them.

yet another form of abuse caught on camera.
This "sport" is gone haywire!!! People physically seen abusing animals get banned from TWO meetings (i think thats what he got isnt it)
In my opinion the only way to bring discipline back into the sport of not just horse racing but equestrianism, full stop is to make an exhibition of these offenders and BAN them from participation in the sport.
These animals are under enough strain and pressure to perform without being abused - particularly by those who are meant to have a bond with them.

In my opinion what he did wasn't very smart; but was more of a public opinion gaffe than a serious problem. To me it looked more like getting the horses attention than anything vicious, the equivalent of a parent giving a misbehaving child a swat.

he needs to be banned for life from tracks. after he head butted the horse, he overused the whip and I am pretty sure he is on suspension from the Jockey Club until they make an official decision.

Get a life... geesh... he didn't hurt the horse...how many times has your horse headbutted you!
It's all so overpublicised. I love animals, especially horses, but this needs to be in perspective!

I think they should let the horse headbut him. As a jockey, he should know that thiat type of behavior is unacceptable.
