I recently changed my cats food from the walmart "special kitty" small cans of cat food to the big cans-still same flavor...my question is she has the runs when she poops, she still uses her litter box but also she goes "poppey" in either bathrooms or in my livivng room behind the couch....im just not sure if its from me changeing the food*even though its same flavor smaller can chaged to larger can* and she has been eating alot lately too? Could she possibly have some kind of worms? or would i have to take her to the vet? any answers greatly appreciated.

First step, in a diarrhoea problem, is don't feed her for a day, but make sure she has water.. See if she has stopped pooping. Then start feeding her a little. if she still has diarrhoea, see the vet immediately.
Have you deworm her regularly? Did you leave the food out too long?
If you have not deworm her, take her to the vet for PROPER deworming cycles. For wet food, you cannot leave it out too long or it will go bad and make her sick.
If she is kitten, she may lack lactobacillus, the friendly gut bacteria. Get a vet to administer it to her.
Don't keep changing food as the different preservatives in the food can cause diarrhoea.

She could have an allergy to something in the food. Just because it's the same flavor doesn't mean it has the same ingredients.
Most manufacturers of low end cat food keep costs down by changing the grain content during the year. More corn when corn is cheaper, more wheat when wheat is cheaper, you get the idea.
If your cat is an indoor only cat, the likelihood of worms is somewhat small, but could happen.
But, for your kitty's health, take her to her vet - tell them what's going on. Oh, and they'll want a stool sample.
Hope she's OK

if she has worms you would be able to tell, look at her poo when you change the litter box, as well as look at her butt to see if you see any worms on her butt or the fur around it. yes I know this sounds gross but has to be done. If she does have worms there are some pretty good "over the counter" stuff that you can find at the pet stores if you can catch it soon.

Hey,
I would think it was some kind of worm yes, which one i'm not really sure of it could be ring worm or it could be heart worm i'm not sure. The best thing that you could do for it would be to take it to the vets nd see what they say about it.

could be changing food. I can't change my cats food. Try going back to original food see if it gets better. If not may need to see vet.

it sounds like she has worms. look in her poop (but dont go touching in and stuff) to see if there are little things that look like white rice in her poop because if there is then its tape worms and you need to take her to the vet and get her meds AND Flea meds dont use the flea coaler because they dont work as good.
