What is sadist? Some people tell me that they are sadist and I don't know what it means....

Literally, a sadist is someone who gets sexual pleasure from inflicting pain on another person.
But usually when a person says he or she is a sadist, he or she says they like being mean sometimes. That's a very popular misuse of the word.

A sadist is someone who enjoys inflicting pain on others. So named for the Marques de Sade, who was a French aristocrat who wrote extremely explicit pornographic stories involving inflicting pain on children, including his own!
