It's not. The 787 "Dreamliner" is smaller than the 747. Teh 787 seats 240 in 2-class configuration and 234 in 3-class, compared to the max seating of 524 in 2-class set up.

The Dreamline is however brand new and should fly smoother, faster and be 20% more fuel effiecent than the 30+ year old 747.

787 is a replacement of the 767. And Beoing is getting many orders for the new aircraft.

First of all, the 787 is not bigger then the 747. It is going to bea bout the size of a Boeing 767 aircraft.

Chad D is correct , exept for the fact the 787 will fly smoother than the 747 which is 37 years old since its first release. The 747 is constantly recieving updates and engineering orders to ensure it flies as smooth as any other aircraft in the boeing fleet. They are also currently being ordered by various airlines and manufactured according to updated specifications.

the 787 will actually be smaller than the747 it will cary up to 300 people as opposed to 500 on the 747
