They dont knock on the door, they just teach kids in school their religion! Well at least in CA.
I don't think I have to prove anything, but this post is pretty much a knock on the door!

What's wrong with trying to prove one's religion? Didn't u take proofs in high school math? Was it because u didn't know how to count? In the real world, whatever u do u better have some major evidence or reason supporting ur decisions and actions, otherwise u'll be branded foolish and unwise!!!
Let's start with atheists. Many atheists I know prefer not to believe in a super being, because they don't want their freedoms limited. Of course they will not come out and say that straight out, but they will label any rules or restrictions as unjust, therefore the Being that gave these rules is unjust, hence there's no such Creator or Ruler, and even if there is, they don't want to take part in such a "resticting" religion. So basically atheists refuse religion without even trying to c what if offers simply because they think they know more than anybody else and don't want to give up what they like.
In Islam, a person must be able to prove to oneself that he/she believes in the message of the religion. He/she must think about the meaning of life, understand the meaning, and act upon it. And in order for us to truly believe we must first make ourselves understand the message and prove it to ourselves. Faith alone is just one part of the belief, logic and reason is imperative in the highest forms of belief.
Frankly, I don't c anybody knocking on my door trying to prove to me their religion, whether it be HInduism, Judaism, Christianity, or Islam. In normal conversation, I don't c why it's a problem if somebody brings up some proof or reason behind religion. If that's what they believe, I'm not gonna go out there and bang on his head until he believes what I believe.

What would you do if you were sitting in the sun by a lake and you saw a person about to drown, you are a good swimmer, you have a life preserver, would you let them die or would you try to save them? What would be the most loving thing to do? Could you live at peace with yourself if you didn't even try? Would you only try to save them because you wanted to prove you could swim?
Maybe someone is just trying to pull you out of the lake.

You can't just ask questions of religions in general. It's the people who matter. Why do religious people prove themselves? If you found something that changed your life completely for the better out of which you can have communion with the creator of the universe, would you stay silent?
But you don't walk around telling everyone you know that you haven't met any celebrities...comparatively

It's because some religions believe that nonbelievers should not exist at all in the world. Some try to fix this by horrendous murders, and others attempt it by asking those around them to try to believe.
But it is certainly likely that some religions would prefer to see nothing else but their own kind in the world.

ya i agree. I'm not exactly an athiest, but not really christian. I dont have a religion i guess. And it bugs me how those really religious people think that if you dont believe in god, you are a terrible person.
And i went to a Catholic school for like three years, and going to one in high school. It bugged me because in religion class, one day they were teaching how "Wiccan" and "Atheism" is bad. Catholicism annoys me because they teach how anything OTHER than being a Catholic is wrong, and you should teach everyone to be liek you.
grrr.
it bugs

Yes your right, also religon is the root of all the worlds problems-just look at the situation in the middle east.
People on this forum want an example-theres is a lady at the train station in my town who is always handing out pamphlets telling people to accept jesus, it's really, really annoying.

Why is someone not a Christian?
Because there is no more proof they are right than someone else, and they happen to like someone else better. It is inherent that religions try to increase their number of followers, and to do such, they will try to convince people that they are more correct than the other religions out there.

You've got it a little turned around. It the atheists and agnostics who continually haunt the religious area trying to put down Christians and prove them wrong. Good example, you.
