I mean, come on. I look at these discussion boards and anyone who is anything right-wing gets all huffy if others are talking about the problems of this nation. Why is that? They talk of Patriotism and all that, but they sure don't mind trampling on other's Right of Free Speech. And when it comes to actual discussion, they mock, harrass, name call, and make fun of others. Half the time they can't even use proper english or spell correctly; I guess they must also be one of the lost from the "Dumbing Down of America". How is a free Republic going to survive with people like that? I bet most don't even understand basic politics besides what their talking heads tell them; that they're thinking, "republic, I thought it was a democracy!"; that they think their vote actually counts and isn't bought; and that they think their leaders are people just like them and not the rich elite. How is it people can live in such a paridigm? How can we move past these people and reclaim our Country for US?

If anybody "mock"-s, "harass"-es, "name call"-s, or "make[s] fun" of you because of what you say, they are not "trampling" on YOUR freedom of speech. They are rebutting you. The only way they can "trample" on your freedom of speech is by preventing you from speaking your mind. Rebuttal is sure as h*** not the same thing as censorship!

As for proper english or correct spelling, you obviously look at these quesions/answers with a biased eye. I have seen many left-wing nuts making all sorts of gross mistakes with the english language on this website! Ignorance is on both sides of the fence, pal!

And the left sure has their fair share of idiots who "don't even understand basic politics besides what their talking head tell them," such as Bill Maher .......

And in case you didn't notice, John Kerry was certainly a member of "the rich elite."

I haven't been on many discussion boards before so I really don't know if Republicans get huffy, but it seemed strange to me that in your post you were doing exactly what you said they did.
Trampling on others: they don't spell correctly has nothing to do with free speech, I would think that had more to do with putting someone down because they couldn't spell...so weren't' you making fun of them?
They call names....you mean like when you said "I guess they must also be one of the lost from the "Dumbing Down of America"
You didn't say anything about them being mind reads like you are, or maybe just a betting man..."I bet most don't even understand basic politics "

To answer your question "How can we move past these people and reclaim our Country for US?" We can do it by letting people like you post ect. That's called freedom of speech.

Some would say that he who slings mud looses ground.

I'm a Republican but, most of all a Conservative. It has to do with loving and following God. Keep talking though. I'm willing to listen to you. Even though you have said all of the things about me, that you believe that I say about you.

You asked, "How is it people can live in such a paradigm? How can we move past these people and reclaim our Country for the US?

I will answer that: First, we need to get along and respect each other and realize that we all have a right to free speech even if the other party doesn't agree.

P.S. Do you have spell check?

Are you serious? I figured out a long time ago that the majority of the republicans who come here have no clue what the constitution even is; moreover, no sense whatsoever that it is us democrats fighting for their right to have a voice here.

If I have learned anything from coming to YAHOO answers Political section, it would be that the democrats prefer to learn and listen about the issues while the republicans tend to regurgitate what they have heard in the media.

EDIT ADDED: Got me thinking. I also think that they tend to revert to name calling because they really have no argument but are following what they have been taught is bad... ie, liberals, gay marriage, etc...basically their minds are so prejudiced against anything democratic that they lack the ability to even consider fact or truth.

I've even given sources from Frontline, PBS show that practically wins the truth in journalism award every year, before and have had some of them say to me, "you have to do better than that."

I've concluded they don't want the truth. They can't handle it. This is a competition to them not about what is better for us as a country.

Ok I'll hush now. lol

both extreme Republicans & extreme Democrats take only the views of either platform. the nation was founded on the idea of separation of church and state and that all men are created equal. took us awhile to get the all men part right but we finally did. i'm definitely party affiliated but if someone asks me i answer w/ exceptions & they reply that i am not truly that party. the key to government is what is fair, what is just? the bill of rights is the foundation of the Constitution for a reason. washington warned against a party system but the 2 major parties perform the majority of check & balances on each other while the ideas of the third parties are incorporated into the larger platforms. name-calling is the biggest strategy to get a vote but the responsible citizen looks past that & can sometimes even see the humor in the fact that most of those politicians are contradicting their own alleged belief system.

This is a good question.
the Iowans for Sensible Priorities
offer of $8,000 of FREE Ice Cream and $5,000 cash to be a sponsor on the RAGBRAI route was declined because the Orio mobile was deemed "too controversial"
Imagine that
.http://www.sensibleiowans.org/

check it out.
the Orio mobile is too controversial.
the republicans in the fastest growing and only county that's growing, read that as exploding, in a population boom that is eating all the cropland and growing Mc Mansions on them.
they can't handle the truth.

republicans reject free speech,
free Ice Cream and free money
Just so they can pretend that everyone thinks like they do.
How sad.
ragbrai is the great bike ride across Iowa. It has been going on for over 30 years.
they start somewhere on the Missouri side and ride east to the Mississippi..it's a BIG deal around here 10,000 bicycles and all their support people.
Lance Armstrong will be in Newton on Thurs for one day of the ride.

In my opinion this country needs people who loves her and support her.Right now we are in The 21 century and there are so many problems that our country faces and if we do not educate ourselves in international relations as well as what is America and what went wrong? We are not able to do anything even the Global warming and Some Republican Congress voted No for environment and they do not believe in global warming,Now you get your picture why these Republican friends of us think different than others.By the way, these so call Republican do mixed religion with State in which my professor taught me that it is a bad Karma.Don't you agree with my point? What else? I can go on and on about our Republican but,it is going no where,I urge you doing more and keep educating our people in the right direction. This land is for everyone who loves her and he or she will be a good citizen not cheat, lie and crossing his or her principle and mixed religion with state.Well everyone is entitle for his or her opinion and here is my two cents.

You can't possibly believe what you just typed.
Bush Bashers are no better than anyone else. I despise Clinton and what he is but it doesn't mean I am against all Democrats.Neither do I always agree with ALL Republicans but in the scheme of things Bush has probably had to deal with a hell of a lot more "bad ****" than anyone else since Vietnam!

God for bid Hillary gets back in the White House. The only reason she would possibly win is the PITY VOTE.She sure as hell doesn't have a brain in her head.

They are ALL the rich elite-not just Republicans.
I have seen more name calling and stupidity from the so called Democrats and pro-ILLEGALS than anyone else in here.
PLease do not lump one political party into one lump sum of attitude. Not all of us are empty headed, close minded,un-educated people.
And some of us know how to think for ourselves.

I find that it goes both ways.

But if you read something with an already biased opinion, you are going to find that you block out what you don't want to read in the first place and only focus on the negative side of what you see from a group, as you have obviously done.

Why is it that Liberal Democrats so often want to trample a Republicans free speech because it is against what the Liberal believes?

Again, it goes both ways.

Have you been censored here by any user? Has any user caused you physical harm or jailed you against your will for anything that you have said? How has your free speech been impeded? You have the freedom here to say what you wish. Rebuttal is not a denial of your right to free speech.

You are confusing the right of freedom of speech with the desire to never be challenged or debated...or in some cases insulted.
