The body is to be a temple to God. What you put in it and on it should be glorifying Him. I personally would not get one and think its not good, but if you already have tattoos, etc, God will not turn you away because of them.

You have to decide if you follow the old or new testament.

And for the record the quote in Leviticus is after calling for animal sacrifices, so the poster above needs to clarify exactly WHICH parts of the bible they follow.

For the record the term "tattoo" is NOT used - it was "marks" and the same word translates to "scars" NOT tattoos.

There is also the following from Leviticus:
יט אֶת-חֻקֹּתַי, תִּשְׁמֹרוּ--בְּהֶמְתְּךָ לֹא-תַרְבִּיעַ כִּלְאַיִם, שָׂדְךָ לֹא-תִזְרַע כִּלְאָיִם; וּבֶגֶד כִּלְאַיִם שַׁעַטְנֵז, לֹא יַעֲלֶה עָלֶיךָ.

Essentially, you can't wear anything made from two types of threads - no blends. It's either all cotton, all silk, all poly-whatever. No mixing of fabrics!

So either follow it all or do what other people do - cherry pick what's convenient for you.

I would say God doesnt like it, and I have a few. It is as the heathen do, marking their bodies. Remember your body is a temple. However I cant find a specific scripture to support it. If you get one , give it some thought, aChristian COULD use it to put forth a symbol to support a concept or idea that has meaning as I hopefully believe I do. Igot one at @(now 42) 23 that is a lion with wings. Ive rationalized it to represent something from the book of Revelations. Hey, Im a sinner.

You can be a Christian and do most anything, as many Christians are not well grounded in their faith, and will go along with anything. Piercings and tattoos come from rituals practiced by pagan religions and the influence of the occult. So can you do these things and be a Christian, yes, but if you want to be a good witness for your faith, no.

That might depend on what the tattoo looks like or says! Otherwise, I don't see why not. I personally don't want to go through the discomfort and hassle of putting permanent marks on my body, but I don't think God minds. And any Christian who sees this as a major problem should consider ear piercings as well.

Just be careful. If you get a tattoo and regret it, they are not easy to get rid of.

Of course! It is just your body. God is interested in your soul. Also the new testement says we are now under the law of grace. I personally don't believe if you have Christ, that you have any need to put yourself through the pain of a tattoo. Also tatoos are pretty permanent and later in your life you may not want the stigma of a tattoo. Why do it if you don't need to and it if it may have negative affects later on??? DON"T DO IT!

No, the bible speaks against it by saying in I Cor.3:16 "Know ye not that you are the temple of God, and that the spirit of God dwelling in you?" vs. 17 "If any man defile the temple of God,him shall GOD destroy....".

My daughter in law is one of the sweetest Christians I know, and she has two tattoos and plans to get more.

1 Cor 10:31 - Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
If it glorifies God then it is fine.
