What are some good stock photo sites to sell through?

I'm a budding photographer and want to actually make back the money I've spent building up my system. How do royalties and licensing work? What is the average I can make per download?

My two favorites are Shutterstock and Big Stock. They have all the answers on their sites- very informative. Join, upload and most of all have patience. The more you upload, the more that are accepted and the more money you make. Stock royalties are about quantity. Upload high quality images that are stock-worthy and you can make a bundle.
