probally looking into jvc or i prefer sony? i talked to best buy and sony is gonna have a 30 gb hard driver camcorder with 3 ccd's. dont want to spend more than $1,000.00 dollars. And will the battery stay charged to use all the 30 gb of record time. And will it take good mexa-pixels still photos.

also, if you need it to last long then you could always use one of those AC adapters and plug it in to the wall. In this case it will last as long as you have electricity in that area.

I don't own one but I do sell these for a living so I'll tell you my opinion.

If I had to choose between brands, I would go with Sony. It is just a much better camcorder manufacturer. Generally speaking, Sony's are easier to use and is much better in low light.

JVC does have a 3CCD HD cam out now, but it prices for over $1000, about $1300 to be exact and I'm sure the Sony will be more pricey than the JVC.

As for the battery, neither will stay charged for the length of the record time. At the highest quality, both will record for around 7hrs. The battery that comes with these cams will last 2 hrs. at the most. You can always buy a longer lasting battery.

The stills should be around the 3 - 5 megapixel range so it should give you a good quality still, but not as good as a regular still digital camera.
