Yes, everyone has hardships in their lives but no, that does not excuse us from the law. We can scream unfair if we want to, but it won't do us any good. Getting through hardship is what make us who we are - we can be proud of ourselves for finding ways to survive and be proud of ourselves when we do it legally. The reward is the wonderful feeling when make it through to the other side of your hardship. You cannot enjoy that wonderful feeling if you had to break laws to get there, because you truly did NOT get there, if you did it illegally.

It doesn't matter what kind of sob story any American has, the illegal immigrants will definitely top it whether it's true or not. If they had to go through so much to get here why couldn't they put out that much effort to make it in their own country. I would have stayed and worked hard and LIVED in my own country rather than risk my life coming across a desert into a country ILLEGALLY and if I made it, risk prison, the ire of the citizens and possible deportation right back.
A hard luck story does not make a person above the law. If that were the case every prisoner in every prison would come up with a doozie just to get out.
We'd all come up with one so we could just waltz into stores and pick out anything we wanted, go choose a new car off the lot, move into any fine home and just claim it and never pay for anything because we'd be "above the law" with our "Hard luck sob story".

Yes I do.
Currently in Arizona the coyote smuggling operation rakes in 2 billion dollars annually (tax free). There are recent deaths of illegal immigrants found in our deserts who the FBI stated were unable to pay the additional charges demanded by the coyotes. It is bad enough that illegal immigrants work slave wages for corporations and employers. But, to be further degraded by their own ppl is so inhumane. Even those that make them pay to come here are seeing illegal immigrants as less then human. I am serious when I say that is a sob story for me.

oh, hell. I never thought I would talk about this. My life was ruined when a neighbor woman got mad at me. She then accused my husband of child molestation. I crumbled and lost my daughter. I am lower than low. I hurt everyday.
