i have very sraight hair with a very very slight wave. i would like some ideas on how to make it look curly./wavy without using a curling iron.

i dont want to use an iron, curlerer, or mouse and gels. i just want something simple i can do every day after my shower, or each morning.

this has worked before, but i dont like doing it: after i take a shower i dry my hair with a towel and make it nice and wavy while it's wet (just with my hands). then after it dries use a very large comb to brush it. if i use a regular brush the curls go away. do you think that will work or do you have any other suggestions i can just do with my hands and a towel?

you can put curlers in your hair at night and take them out in the morning.

Use hotsticks. They really work and are much easier than a curling iron and the curls or wave stays a long time. I always used gel or mouse on my daughter's super straight hair and this was the only way I could curl her hair! Use the larger ones with a large amount of hair to get body or waves and the smaller ones with less hair on each to have tight curls.

i suppose it depends on how much time in the morning you would want to spend on your hair...

i have naturally curly hair, but it's so heavy that if i let it dry naturally, it looks just wavy and pretty straight at the roots. a friend of mine has hair about like yours, and here's what i taught her:

invest in a diffuser with "teeth" (ya know, the round kind with the little barrels all in the middle). if you have shorter hair, there are diffusers with shallower teeth. and for longer hair, deeper teeth. i personally have a Vidal Sassoon ceramic dryer that came with a detachable diffuser (target for $25). when your get out of the shower, towel dry it with your hands in the "scrunching" style. then, apply John Frieda Frizz-Ease Dream Curls, Curl Perfector ($6 at drugstores). i know you said you didn't want to use product, but this is a non-sticky light conditioner-like product that doesn't leave your hair crispy. then, on medium speed, dry your hair with a diffuser. i find that turning my head upside down works well to start the drying process.

the result is touchable curls, and added body and bounce for otherwise just wavy hair.

Braiding your hair when wet usually gives you the wave you may want. My tip to getting my hair wavy is something I don't know will work on you, but....I wash my hair right before going to sleep. You can use hairspray, leave-in conditioner-whatever you do after you wash your hair. Feel free to toss and turn all you want while sleeping. It helps curl your hair. When you wake up, your hair will have much volume and waves and it'll be shiny and soft. Good luck.

I have straight hair with waves towards the bottom of it. I use volumizing mouse and cat walk curl volumizing cream and a diffuser to help me curl it...

I apply a little bit of both products on my hair when it's wet, and dry it with a diffuser... when almost dry I apply another product called Bouncy cream by ISO.. to shape it and take the frizz away..
It works great for me.

Magic wand? There really is no way. It's not worth it to damage it with curling irons all the time or perms that only fall out and look limp after a few months. One of these days you'll have to be ok with the hair you were born with and style it within normal limitations. ~~another person with annoyingly straight hair

when your hair is wet, flip your head over and towel dry it (make sure it is still damp though)..

then, using a texturizing spray like Curlsilk by Trade Secrets, scrunch your hair with your hands, and very lightly run your fingers through it

flip your head back to normal and then shake side to side, up and down to mess it up.. use more spray, scrunch some more

then, just use hairspray to keep it in place and you're good to go

i'm a natural born curly. my hair is really wavy but it's managable and soft. if you want to have a curly hair then have the "tirintas" style. this style is where you tie your hair between three to four hair lines. if you watched jewel in the palace or dae jang geum or love of the condor heroes or return of the condor heroes , you will see the tirintas style on the hair of jang geum and xiao long nu. do it to your hair and then after five minutes untie it and see your hair wavy and curly....

what i do is put in a braid/s at night. it really does work. the tighter the braid, the tighter the curl. also i use mousse and a round circle brush. first lather your hair with mousse, then wrap it around the circle brush. next dry lightly. DONE!!! U look FABULOUS!!
