I have lived this lifestyle (on and off) for years. I am totally a Dominant - have tried submitting and it not in me at all.
When two consenting adults work things out together with respect and with the focus on safety - it can be a wonderfully fulfilling lifestyle for both parties.
I enjoy a mixture of real-life and on-line exploration and lots of chatting with like-minded people.
But I must caution anyone into BDSM to be VERY careful of their identity - society is still inclined to confuse BDSM (which is safe sane and consentual play by adults) and ABUSE (which is anything that fails to be safe or consentual or adult-only) and you can find yourself being judged harshly by society - this is because many people FEAR that one leads to the other.
There are millions of people who share our interest in Dominance and submission - even if they are shy about coming forward and answering your question.

I am and have been into it for about 4 years. Not that long but long enough to gain some experience and learn a good bit. I am involved in a BDSM group in my area (Tucson AZ) and I highly recommend that if you have one in your area you go, at least for the discussions. As someone discussed before be careful, some see our kink as abuse still when really it isn't. It is consentual between two adults. As he said most get confused.
BDSM is an art, and a way of life. I am very much dominant. However I did try being submissive. While it was great that I learned the "other sides point of view" and that I learned many new techniques, being submissive is not for me. To each their own!
How long have you been into this? Is your husband dominant? If not is he willing to learn? Would he allow you to be dominated if he was present to watch and learn from it also?
If you are not near anyone that posts to this question, and you want to get a partner, check out sites like http://www.alt.com , or http://www.bondage.com , and others to find what / who you are looking for. Otherwise do searches in google/ask for "BDSM in (your area)." Normally some will pop-up.
If you need to know anything else feel free to email me at master_mike_81@yahoo.com or via messenger at master_mike_81. Take care, and good luck in the lifestyle, whether a new fetish or one you are trying to grow upon!

I'm a switch, which means that I can go either way. However, I suspect that I prefer to be a Dominant somewhat more than being submissive. I've tried the submissive route, but I can only go so far before my comfort level is pushed. At this juncture, I would tend to want to be a Dominant, but I would be relatively new at it.
In terms of fetishes, is that the only one you have? Feel free to fill in what your likes and dislikes are. ;-)

I'm submissive. My partner is my Master. We live our lives this way, it is not just a "fetish" for us. Many many people like power exchange, don't feel alone :)
