I want to send a present to a friend who lives in Canada, I will ship the present from California.
Which is the better way to do it and does he has to pay taxes?
Im planning to send him some clothes, shoes and a cell phone.

You can send is via US Post. But when you mail the package and if you chose to declare its value, make sure you specify that it is a GIFT. Otherwise, your friend may have to pay duty.

A friend on mine received a similar package from the US last month.He did not have to pay any taxes and it was from US Post.

your friend may have to pay duty. You will have to declare on the package the value of the present, if it is over a certain amount, then they will have to pay.

No taxes. US Mail works great if you're not in a big hurry.
