Although there are many methods of learning a language, a new method called "natural immersion" may be the best answer to quickly learn a language in its entirety. Whilst other methods require tedious translations and require to know what your native language is, natural immersion requires no previous foreign language knowledge, and is easy to learn. My best reccomendation is Farfield's Rosetta Stone. For only about three hunderd USD, you can learn a language in as little as six to twelve months, with FULL comprehension. I am not a spokesperson for Rosetta Stone, instead, when I needed to learn German and comprehend it in about one year, I turned to Rosetta Stone.

Before you invest, check out their demo; they offer the first couple of levels of any given language for free.

Pick up an English grammar textbook, and start reading newspapers.

By all means, do NOT attempt to learn English by reading instant messages! That stuff is garble.

Watch a lot of movies in English. Put the subtitles on. Practice what they're saying and try to imitate the accent.

Agree with #1 answer, also look into books that you have access to in both languages. Don't be afraid/ashamed to read children's books.

We all started somewhere.

Contact me if you would like, I would be glad to help.
