This is SO messed up. If anyone has a positive comment and not a negative one, please reply! Anyways, my fiance was arrested lastnight. He was driving and got lost. He made a wrong turn and made a U-turn right near a military base's gate. They immediately caught him (I think b/c he had a Honduras license plate on the front of his car, and GA people are SO against Hispanics, whether legal or not. Hey, some are even against us whites!) So anyways, he has a clean record and no crimes or felonies at all. He's been in the U.S. illegally for 7 years, so that clean record has got to count for something maybe right? He is responsible, hardworking, and is a person of good moral character. Yes I know that he's illegal, but to be arrested and now be on his way to being deported JUST for a U-turn? Isn't that wrong? I mean I could see if he committed some kind of crime of violence or something, but he didn't! He is also an orphan and the only love and acceptance he knows is with me and my family.

But ty for the reply anyways! : ) ) I have an attorney all set up and it looks REALLY good! If it doesn't work out though, I will go with him to Honduras and marry him, then bring him back legally. Too bad for all you racist people. EVERYONE IS EQUAL SO GET OVER IT!

Honey, I know you must feel terribly for him and be worried sick.........Don't fret, if God meant for it to happen he had no control over it anyway.......Everything happens for a reason, and this is just a part of his learning experience while on this earth.......Everything will be okay...........

Do you want the truth? or only an answer which would say he somehow is in the right here?? You're right it is SO messed up, how could he possibly think he could live in the US illegally for 7 years and not get caught...jeez what is this world coming to. GET A FRICKEN CLUE HERE...he is illegal...what does that mean...he broke the law 7 years ago, it is unfortunate they didn't deport him 7 years ago while trying to come across the border ILLEGALLY. As for the U-Turn, it doesn't really matter why they pulled him over, but a suspicious U-Turn near a military base strikes a lot of curiosity, so yeah they will pull him over. He gets IDed, and if he was here legally, nothing more would have happened, but he isn't here legally, so they have every right to arrest him. Good for him that he hasn't broke any other laws, that is great, and you're right, that might help his case for legal documentation, who knows.

You are wrong - he has committed at least one crime when he crossed the border illegally and if he has lived in the US illegally for 7 years, then he has committed many more crimes by now in order to have sustained his existence here all this time. Just because he has not been caught committing his crimes, does not mean he did not commit them! He has been working illegally in the US, most likely by using fake or fraudulent SSN and probably other illegal ID, as well. If he hasn't been doing that, then I would be almost 100% certain that he has been supporting himself by selling drugs. My daughter's boyfriend is from Honduras, and I can tell you that even if your fiance's parents are deceased, he has much familial support in Honduras because those people ALL live close to their extended families, such as brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, etc., etc. Don't try the "poor little orphan" story here for sympathy! There are lots of orphans and poor people in the USA, too, but that doesn't mean they get free benefits and are allowed to work without paying taxes, etc. As well, I bet your fiance did NOT have a valid drivers' license or insurance! If he was involved in a car accident, who do you think would have to pay for damages and injuries to other parties??? Not him, that's for sure!

Sorry, say bye-bye to your Honduran fiance! He'll be deported ALL THE WAY BACK TO HONDURAS, so it's not quite the simple little hop, skip, and jump back over the border as it is for illegal Mexican immigrants. He may make it back again, eventually, but he will find it is not anywhere near as easy as it was 7 years ago because the Mexicans hate the Central Americans crossing up over their southern border and they are clamping down on their border even more lately as the US has put pressure on the Mexican government to seal up their southern border, as well.

Your best bet is to FORGET ABOUT HIM! Same thing I tell my daughter every day about her Honduran boyfriend who was deported in December. I hate him with a passion for ever meeting her, in the first place, and I wish he drops dead in the dessert on his way back or at least gets caught in Mexico and imprisoned for a very, very long time! Her future will be soooo much better if she can forget about him and move on with her life!

Maybe he won't be deported..If he was here for 10 years i have heard they wont..7 years is still a long time..Don't just sit try to do something before they deport him..plus he also has a clean record that will help..Talk to a lawyer immediately ..the ones that help with illegal immigrants would help him and fight for them not to deport him..so contact them..I wish you Good luck to you and him and hopefully everything will be ok.

Another thing try to get the lawyer immediately if those people are racist they will treat him badly before deporting him..They have been so many stories of this behavior..I don't want too worry you but try to help him soon by contacting a immigration lawyer..I don't know what else to say but i hope they don't deport him.
Good Luck!!

Here's the deal with your fiance's deportation. According to the LETTER OF THE LAW (both American and international) he has committed a crime. Entering a country without permission is grounds for deportation, at the least. At worst, there are some countries out there (the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Central Africa are three areas that come to mind) that shoot border crossers on sight, so at least be glad the U.S. doesn't do that.

However, I am of the opinion that despite the illegal status of many immigrants to America, if they are productive members of the society into which they immigrated, keep their noses clean and (this is important) WORK THEIR WAY TOWARDS BECOMING LEGAL CITIZENS, then they should be allowed to continue to reside in the U.S.

The problem is that too many illegals are NOT PRODUCTIVE. They commit crimes and end up in our jails. They use fake IDs and SSNs to get our welfare. They take our states' benefits without contributing to our society in any meaningful way. Those are the illegals that need to be kept out and/or sent back. But unfortunately, even productive, otherwise law-abiding illegal immigrants get lumped together with the non-productive illegals.

However, the reality of America is that our nation was built upon immigration. In the 1800's millions of Irish, Italians, Germans and Scandinavians came to America on boats that sailed to Ellis Island in New York. Millions of Africans were brought to America as slaves, and became citizens upon emancipation. Millions of Asians have come across the Pacific at various times in America's history. Of course, this was all before there were specific laws prohibiting such unrestricted movement of peoples.

And therein lies the problem. At some point in America's history, the government decided to control immigration by adopting laws making it illegal to enter the U.S. without a visa (work or student). And since America is still the land of opportunity and affords a better standard of living than all the countries that send their people here, that makes it very tough to get one of the limited numbers of visas (and limited number of citizenship papers as well).

While it seems petty for him to be "deported just for a U-turn", he's not being deported for making a U-turn; he's being deported for being here illegally. The U-turn was only the manner in which he was discovered.

And to be totally honest, if you truly love this guy, then either you will go to Honduras to be with him, or you will find a way to get him back to America legally. That part is up to you.

listen honey, maybe your a little confused, he didn't get deported because he made a wrong turn, he got deported because he was here illegally. what is wrong with you people, do you think that if these illegals stay uncaught long enough they will be able to stay forever, i mean come on, you knew he was illegal so the entire 7 years you must have known that at any time he could be caught and deported. listen if you love him that much why don't you help him get here legally this time

That does sound harsh, but it also sounds like that's just gonna be what happens. A military base isn't a place to go near for any reason if you're illegally here. The clean record I'm sure will acct for an "We're sorry to do this" but I don't think it's going to keep him here. Although, marriage I think could help to remedy the problem and keep him in the states. :) My condolences to the both of you.

He is being deported because he is here illegally, not because he made a u turn! There is a big difference.

He's illegal. Think about it! They aren't just deporting him because they are trying to be mean. Its the freaking law! I know its hard to see because you love him and I feel for you. But the law is the law.
