You know this has been aproblem for along time and not everybody feels like picking or packing fruit is beneath them. I packed apples for a couple of years and enjoyed it the people were good to work for and almost everyone got aling and joked and talked and helped the new personlearn the ropes. Then i moved on to another place. About a year later AI came back all the warehouse jobs were full but pickers were needed. I was more than happy to pick apples it was ouside and not bad. But because I could not pick as fast as the other people I was fired. I do not think that is fair either. There are plenty of people that will do the job if they have the chance, it is the employer that does not want to accept others work I do not care if they do the work if they are legal no problem otherwise people who want to do the job should be given it above the ones who are hear illegally. I am not prejudice just want more fairness both ways.

Do you think they get 6.00 an hour now? Are you comfortable with how these people are treated? They are basically indentured servants with the threat of being turned in or not being paid.
We abolished slavery....and this isn't much better.
IF you had to be legal to do the job, they would pay more. My family farmed and we picked everything we sold. It is hard work, but there is nothing wrong with hard work.
We have just bought into the liberal elite view that hard work is not valid work. They don't respect the workers....and they look down on people who don't attend college, drink wine and pontificate about the "plight of the poor"....

Plenty of people picked fruit before the fruit picking industry or whatever was flooded by illegals. No one will starve in the absence of illegals and the unscrupulous employers who hire them. It would also make excellent summer jobs for kids and legal day laborers. Note, this isn't personal. It's just a forum where we should all be able to debate and discuss ideas.

Are you really serious with this???
You might not know this but minimum wage is 6.50 an hour and alot of people (legal residents of the U.S.) DO work for minimum wage.
Why should anyone be able to illegally come over here and work and not pay taxes and nothing be done about it? That makes absolutely no sense. If someone wants to immigrate into the U.S. I have no problem with that HOWEVER they should have to abide by the same laws and pay the same taxes as those of us who live here legally.

You've got it all wrong. Mexicans put up with slave wages. If they leave, then people in the U.S. will have to do the job, but there's no way that any U.S. citizen in his/her right mind will put up with getting paid next to nothing to work. So if employers abide by minimum wage laws, I bet there are Americans that would step up to the plate. There's no way that I'm going to be treated like a slave by an unethical employer. The reason Mexicans work for next to nothing is because the cost of living in Mexico is dramatically lower than our cost of living. They send their money back to Mexico, and the low salary is more than they can get in Mexico.
This is all about the employers being decent with people, rather than about Mexicans. Also, consumers need to step up and pay more for produce if they want it to be picked by U.S. citizens.

Kids will do it-been on a farm all my life.
College kids want money and a job outdoors-high school too-see many of them work the farms.
Only Big Corporations use the amount that would be hurt by lack of people--if they try hard they would find them. Us little Farms could care less. The percentage of migrant workers-legal and otherwise-is 10%. The other 90% will do fine.

Let them leave, I grow my own produce anyway. I do not have to depend on any illegal to pick my fruits & veggies, I do it myself. If there is something that i need and do not have, I choose to spend my money at a local farm where I know for a fact that the workers are paid according to law & there are absolutely no illegals hired. I dont need them, its that simple. I am not poor or rich, I work for what i need. Let them leave.

Millionaire families and various business from around Arizona mistreat Immigrant workers..Violating their Civil & Human Rights
For over 25 years many Arizona families and local businesses have illegally brought undocumented immigrants from Mexico to Arizona, working them from sunrise to sundown (working their "huevos" off). The immigrants are not able to pay for the bare necessities and end up living in inhumane conditions.
These millionaire families and various business owners have been paying the "Coyotes" (smugglers) to transport entire families to Arizona and then forcing these families to repay the total cost of the smugglers' fee ranging from $500 to $1,500 per person.
Some workers claim they are even sexually abused. Workers sometimes never get paid at all. After they have worked for weeks, just working for food, promised they will be paid money, they are then threatened with deportation if they do not continue.
all so you dont have to pay a few cents more
and they are not all making min wage i know plenty of them that make big money some are in factories and other jobs and are driving around in brand new trucks they bought with their tax free money you dont know what your talking about !
besides that mexico is not a poor country they have enough resources to take care of their own but choose not to because of corruption and we are footing the bill for mexico and these evil companies if we are always bailing them out it will never work for them or us !

you asked this question before and got good feedback from people who can afford Internet access. so you think illegals are a benefit to the U.S.A. try asking the unemployed people on the streets if they would like a job instead of starving to death because of "ILLEGAL" immigrants. my opinion, your advice sucks, I will keep complaining,
